Even if we can't get together immediately, just knowing that others exist would be nice. LOL

Well, I'm here in Monmouth County. I live right next to Asbury Park in Loch Arbour and I don't know of another atheist within miles of me either, except my husband. So, nice to know you and if you ever want to stop by or just chat, just give me a call at 732 531 5182. Toni
The group that was meeting in the Toms River area is still trying to form up. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 12 at 10 am in the Toms River Library in Hometown Dairy Conference Room on the second floor. This group is evolving and looking for anyone interested in joining, we are now the Jersey Shore Freethought Society. Feel free to contact me if you are interested, even if you can not make the meeting.
We will be meeting in the meeting room of the Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library this Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 AM. As we get better organized hopefully we can have predictable schedules and locations for the meetings.

Its been a few years since you have posted this so I was wondering if these meetings were still taking place?

I live in Ocean Township, Monmouth County. It would be good to have a get-together sometime.
Thank you everyone for the responses.
Toni,
I'm in the same boat. My husband, myself and one friend of ours is the extent of our atheist network. So yeah, it would be great to talk to someone like minded, especially a married couple. Do you have children?

Greg,
I would love to attend. I wish I would have known a bit sooner. Between work, not having a baby sitter, life in general I may not be able to make this coming meeting. Any future ones, I would rearrange things to be able to attend.

Howard,
Have you ever gone to the meetings in Toms River?
DD - Never been to any meetings in Toms River. Never knew there were any. Lucky you are married to a like-minded person. I'm married to a fundy xn.
How does that work?
Just moved to Long Branch from Huntsville, Alabama. What's the best way to get involved? Do you guys do adopt-a-mile or skeptics in the pub up here?
When I'm not out at college, I'm in northeastern Ocean County.
The next Jersey Shore Freethought Society meeting is scheduled for

Saturday, October 10, 2009
10 AM - 12 PM
Brick Township Branch of the Ocean County Library
301 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick, NJ 08723

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 7 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

Posted by Christy Stewart on May 20, 2013 at 2:17pm 6 Comments

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
