Atheists who are fed up religion and the idea of god. Its time we all work together and abolish religion and the idea of god through logic and reason. As Michael Bakunin Stated :"If god really existed it would be necessary to abolish him."

New Atheism is the name given to the ideas promoted by a collection of 21st-century atheist writers who have advocated the view that "religion should not simply be tolerated but should be countered, criticized, and exposed by rational argument wherever its influence arises."
The term is commonly associated with individuals such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens(together called "the Four Horsemen of New Atheism" in a 2007 debate they held on their criticisms of religion, a name that has stuck) and Victor J. Stenger. Several best-selling books by these authors, published between 2004 and 2007, form the basis for much of the discussion of New Atheism.

Thank you for your invitation to join your group.I spent the first years of atheism learning what it wasn't and then learning what it is. This is an oversimplification of my thinking, but it kind of…Continue

Comment by Richard Goscicki on September 13, 2012 at 12:38pm Laith, thanks for weighing in on this. We still have to hear from Ryan to tell us what this is about. Dropping out! Indeed.
My opinion is you’re making generalizations and shouldn’t be talking for the group. One thing about atheists is the only thing we have in common is disbelief. Other than that, one likes apples, the other plums. I can’t even assume you’re not a right wing Republican conservative just because you don’t believe.
As far as militancy goes, I stated my position emphatically the first day in capital letters. “You can believe whatever horseshit you want, just STAY THE FUCK OUT OF POLITICS.
That’s the way I feel; I can’t speak for the others. To my thinking, I told Ibrahim straightaway we can’t think of abolishing religion. Check the early comments. But in light of what W. Bush did to this country, embroiling us in Orwellian war, and shattering the economy, keeping religion out of the fantasy of powerful political leaders seems primarily important. W. claims God told him to invade Iraq.
Comment by The Palestinian on September 13, 2012 at 11:46am I have to say I understand where Ryan is coming from. This group is sort of a call to war against religion. What Atheists should focus on really isn't abolishing religion - they should focus on fighting mentalities that promote anti-free thinking and backwardness, and they should focus on the prioritization of things like learning, rationality, and science over other things. Atheism shouldn't necessarily be a cause against religion so much as a cause against backward/closed-minded mentalities.
Having said that, I'm still interested in seeing what comes of this group.
Comment by Richard Goscicki on September 13, 2012 at 9:43am Ryan, for one thing there's no such thing as "face cancer."
I just don't get what you're mad about. Would you present a specific statement or thought that you thought was incorrect.
What does "THIS IS ALL RELIGIONS OF A GOD" mean?

Comment by James M. Martin on September 12, 2012 at 8:14am @Joseph P Goebbels, or someone close to the Fuhrer, must have told him to read Seneca.
Comment by Joseph P on September 12, 2012 at 8:12am Yeah, but he kept the trappings of Christianity and played nice with the institution of the Catholic church, even if he snubbed the actual teachings of the church, in his inner circle. Have to maintain the front for the dumb commoners.
Comment by James M. Martin on September 12, 2012 at 8:07am @ Ibrahim Nope. Hitler threw the RCC under the bus. He carefully crafted the religion of Nazism with its roots, supposedly, in Norse mythology. The Aryans were the white race from the north that invaded India (Bharati) in ancient times, displacing the long-prevalent race of Dravidians. It was to this group of conquering people (Aryans) that Hitler claimed Germans could trace their roots. But I stand firm in my statement that he self-euhemerized (apotheosized) himself into God on earth.
Comment by James M. Martin on September 12, 2012 at 8:03am @ Richard It actually shocked me when Romney brought up the stupid conspiracy myth about Obama planning to take "God" off the currency, then launched into a Father Coughlin-inspired pep talk about how he believes in God, &c. Sad, sad, sad that the political discourse has degenerated to this. The First Amendment is clear in its separation and only the worst sort of demagogue would try to inject God into matters of state. And there I thought Bachmann and Santorum lost the primaries! Sheesh!

Comment by Ibrahim on September 12, 2012 at 2:21am @James M.Martin Ok Stalin was an atheist but Hitler was a roman catholic who killed millions of Jews because he also believed they killed Jesus but also he was in God status.
