Good to have this group.
For a non-theistic description of "natural spirituality" I invite members to read and comment on my new book, Life After Faith. I'm sure it won't please every freethinker (and many a theist) but it is one former minister's clearing of possible paths ahead where Nature is the obvious "common ground" for those with faith and those without.

If you're interested in the Federal Reserve system in the U.S. a really good book is The Creature From Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve. The author talks about how the system was set up in the early 1900s by a few prominent bankers from the U.S. and Europe. It is a very interesting read.

It is not my intention to necessarily get into the discussion, but I did want to pass on a resource debunking a lot of the TZM and Venus Project stuff. http://conspiracyscience.com/articles/zeitgeist/

Jean, thanks for taking time to answer me.

I don't want to be rude so I rather say nothing at this moment.

Okay the rudest I dare to tell you is that we have to agree to disagree on both Z and the Venus project.

My wild guess is that the more I would argue the more you would believe them. So it would be counter productive of me to go further. What Jim Lippard write is enough for me to decide on it.

Felch have a thread on it here in AN did I forgot to link to that one?

I guess the following is a good link

Jim Lippard has made comments from a skeptical freethought perspective since way beyond 1996 or so.

If he write about it like this:

The movie is in three segments--the first is on the origins of Christianity, in which it argues that Jesus was a myth derived from Egyptian myth, based on the work of Acharya S. The second is 9/11 conspiracy theory. The third is an argument that the U.S. Federal Reserve is a scam. It's almost entirely garbage, dependent on crackpot sources.

Now what does Venus project think about the Zeitgheist movie. Did they approve of it?

If they do then I will spend no time looking into it.

But if Venus project is based on Zeitgeist conspiracy ideas then I am highly skeptical about it.

Sorry wrong order. The Z is based on Venus.

Jean, there seems to exist a Zeitgheist group on AN.

have not visited it but found this thread and post by our beloved Felch.

I share your goals. But if Venus project is based on Zeitgeist conspiracy ideas then I am highly skeptical about it.

I did visit some of their own text and they came through as extremely naive to me. They seemed to totally dismiss that we are biological beings.

Take the 500 days simulating a trip to Mars. Such experiments confirm that humans have extremely difficulty to cooperate. Too early to have result from the current such experiment but the documentary that was a bout the earlier ones show that strife abound very easily.

The Venus project the text I read seems totally unaware of us as hierarchical beings. That is why I referred to Venus as Utopian and that is not a recipe for success.

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…
