It's an expertly written and executed number; there are PLENTY of blues tunes about heartbreak, but any that get off the ground so eloquently and don't follow the standard minor pentatonic, 12 bar, 1-4-5 progressions is a gem in my book. They really point out that the true heart of the blues isn't in that boilerplate compositional format that gave birth to rock. It's not that there's anything wrong with that format, but in my opinion, the most important blues instrument is the human ear.
Justin Timberlake wiped his herpetic balls all over this beautiful song. I consider it a violation of the Geneva Convention, and a crime against humanity.
Permalink Reply by Tony Carroll on August 9, 2012 at 8:53pm Fidd, I agree. The most important instrument any of us have is our ear, which leads directly to our brain. Music that moves me is the closest I come to a religious experience. I cherish that. Jesus can't move me, but music sure does.
