Theme from The Apartment
Summer of '42
An odd favorite of mine, soundtrack from "The Last Temptation of Christ." The whole album is really cool.
Permalink Reply by Tony Carroll on June 20, 2012 at 5:10am I understand. Because this is an odd favorite of mine, considering.
'Superstar' from the movie- Jesus Christ Superstar. Meh. I like Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Permalink Reply by The Flying Atheist on June 20, 2012 at 12:30pm And let's not forget "I Don't Know How to Love Him" sung by Yvonne Elliman who went on to achieve infamous disco fame with "If I Can't Have You" on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Anne Murray had a huge hit in a cover version of "I don't know how to love him."
Last year I had the pleasure of seeing Jesus Christ Superstar on the big screen at a revival house here in Chicago. The combination of religion, the hippie culture, some great music and fantastic singing.......it was a fun trip.

Permalink Reply by The Flying Atheist on July 9, 2012 at 11:50pm Funny you should say that. In the late '70s when I started attending my Lutheran high school, they showed us the movie Godspell in class and it was also shown on TV every Easter. In addition, being a musician, I played much of the music from the soundtrack during that time and was very familiar with the film. Godspell presented Jesus in such a human-like manner that he seemed to lose much of his divinity. And the movie presents many bible parables in such an allegorical style that it taught me not to take anything in the bible literally. I would love to go back to my high school and tell them that their christian education had the unintended opposite effect on me!!
Permalink Reply by Tony Carroll on July 10, 2012 at 12:01am I too loved the musical. Very, very human jesus. That's why alot of religious people didn't like it. This is one of my favorites from it, simply because of the voice of Lynne Thigpen. Absoloutely astounding.

Permalink Reply by annet on June 20, 2012 at 12:46am There are so many. Great suggestions everyone. Did anyone watch Disney's Mulan with kids or just for fun? It has good music and Donny Osmond rocks "I'll make a man out of you"
Permalink Reply by Tony Carroll on June 20, 2012 at 5:15am Confession time. I watched Disney before my son was born, while he was young, and now that he's grown and married, I still watch Disney movies. By myself, if need be. Yeah, nerd. But I'm O.K. with that. :)
Permalink Reply by James Yount on June 21, 2012 at 12:07am I'm the same way. Some of the 'kids' movies have better stories with more developed characters than a lot of the blockbusters.
Permalink Reply by James Yount on June 21, 2012 at 12:05am I love when music is used to tell a story. Disney excels at that.

Hello fellow atheists! I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims. I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.
I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists". I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
