I should become a steamboat captain regardless, but can you really do a wedding if all you have is an online thing?

Anybody know if there is a way I can become a wedding officiant in Missouri without getting ordained.

I'm excited to see there's an atheist group in Columbia! I'm in (very) rural MO right now but I may be moving there soon.

Thanks Peggy,
For some reason the link didn't work for me so, I'll repost in case it doesn't work for someone else.

I've promised myself to start using the term mythology vs. religion to refer to belief sets: christian/Jewish/islamic etc. Will you make the same promise?

Mythology: a set of stories, traditions, or beliefs associated with a particular group or the history of an event, arising naturally or deliberately fostered.

Mythology: The body of myths belonging to a culture. Myths are traditional stories about gods and heroes. They often account for the basic aspects of existence — explaining, for instance, how the Earth was created, why people have to die, or why the year is divided into seasons. Classical mythology — the myths of the ancient Greeks and Romans — has had an enormous influence on European and American culture.

I've llived her my entire life and for the most part nobody seems to care. I've only had three incidents.

1) A potential employer wanted a letter of recommendation from my pastor.

2) I had a run in with the law - I was totally innocent, but the cop asked me what church I went to, when I told him none, the questioning intensified, but nothing ever came of it.

3) In fifth grade my son got in trouble for telling an xian on the school bus that she believed in fairy tales. The principal was overtly polite to us, but oviously uncomfortable.

I think you'll enjoy it here, good luck in school.
