Don't forget to listen to Atheists Talk this Sunday Morning. "Minnesota's Richard Dawkins" PZ Myers will be in the studio, followed by a brunch meetup thingy over at Q. Cumbers at 75th Ave and France in Edina.

Bars and churches...sounds like quite a lot of our fine state from what I've seen.

There's a lot more going on within the atheist 'community' then people realize, it just takes some hunting.

George Kane's calender in the discussions is a good start. I'd also recommend checking out http://www.minnesotaatheists.org/

I hope that all of you are (or will become) members of Minnesota Atheists. Please visit our web site at http://mnatheists.org/. If you would like to be on distribution for our weekly calendar of events, just drop me a request at nup@Minn.net. I hope, too, that you listen to Atheists Talk every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. on KTNF 950 AM.

Join us tomorrow: Sunday, July 20, 12:00 m. - 3:00 p.m. - Freethought Picnic. Columbia Park, 800 Columbia Blvd. (off Central Avenue), Minneapolis. Bring some picnic food to share. The shelter area has electricity, a sink and an electric hot plate. (Don't forget to bring your own beverage, plate, and utensils.) Bring your instrument for an informal folk jam. Beginners welcome. Hosted by the Humanists of Minnesota (http://humanistsofmn.org). Download a pdf map at http://mnatheists.org/images/stories/FREETHOUGHT_PICNICS_2008.pdf.

On one of the Meetup outings we did a bar crawl in downtown Minneapolis. The last stop was a little place with some local stand-up comedy in the basement. It was a pretty good time, no harassment or anything like that.

One of the comedians made the comment "so, there's a bunch of atheists here, I didn't know you guys hung out"

I have a feeling that would be a pretty typical response anywhere we might go :P

Minnesota Atheist Meetup

I've only been to two Meetups with the group (moved, busy, etc) but the people were great and a good time seemed to be had by all.

As for location, I just finished up moving from Minneapolis to Andover. Near Anoka and Coon Rapids, about 20 minutes north of the cities.
