[DetroitASC] Important Event for All Atheists in Michigan

In the first week of June, secular allies across your state will come together for a historic conversation you don’t want to miss!

The Secular Coalition for America is hosting an initial organizing call to form a Secular Coalition state chapter in your state. This call is open to all individuals and organizations interested in defending the secular character of your state government and protecting the rights of nontheists!

The call schedule is:
Michigan on Wednesday June 6th at 2pm ET

The conference call number is 530-881-1400. Enter the code 978895 to join.

On the call they will be discussing the mission, purpose, and goals of the SCA chapters, the resources SCA can provide to SCA Chapters, the secular lobbying needs of your state, and the organizational structure of the chapters including leadership positions. No one is required to speak up, but there will be opportunities to do so.

Once our state chapter is organized, monthly calls will become a way to educate and inform as many state citizens as possible about legislation that threatens secular government or demeans nontheists, and coordinate efforts to combat it before it can become law!

For more information please visit the state chapters page on their website.

Please join the call and encourage others to do the same by getting the word out that this call is happening!

Hello all.  New to the Michigan group but joined the site awhile back, just didn't have the time to be as active on here as I wanted.  I am in Flint, and always interested in talking/meeting new people.

@All & Keon, Several groups are coalesced in the Metro Detroit Area and are listed, with info and connect links, on Detroit Coalition of Reason’s website.  There is a section in the Michigan
Secular Groups list
for Southeast Michigan.  The MSG
.pdf file
is also available online thanks to being stored on Detroit Atheists Meetup ‘Files’
page.

HTH!

Hey Brian,

I need to rack my brain a little more for GR proper, but not too far away in Kalamazoo is a great restaurant called Food Dance.  They have a little market in house, a bar, and sit-down dining.  Also great in Kzoo is Bell's Brewery.

I worked for a Creamery in Ann Arbor that sold cheese and gelato to food dance so i went out several times to demo product and eat goodies.

GR isn't the most exciting foodie town but I'll keep thinking.  But, the best peanut butter ever made comes from grand rapids - Koeze Cream-Nut.  Grab a jar, a good loaf of bread and some local preserves and you'll never look at a PBJ the same.
