Hi Kate! I'm about to start on my nursing degree. Nice to meet another nurse-to-be!

Hi
I was so glad to find this group! I am a second year Nursing Student surrounded by theists. This doesn't bother me much, but I find myself craving some balance.

My guess is that when one of the wives of these damn hypocrites gets a fistula, especially one beyond surgical repair, he will say "I'm just not that into you!" and move on to his next victim!

I don’t know about you but when I do a pelvic on a female bible thumper I do it with both my hands on her knees. What a bunch of ignorant dumabass MoFo’s. You know, if everything is “in god’s hands” or is “god’s will” ,don’t even come to my ER. There are plenty of sane sick people that I can help.

JSH, you have got to be fucking kidding me!!! What if the only specialist for her particular deadly complication is a male OB? He thinks SO LITTLE of his wife/child that he is willing to LET THEM DIE!! Will he do the same for himself if he finds himself in the ICU?? The ratio of male to female OBs is probably something in the neighborhood of 8:2, the ratio in the ICU (if he is lucky) is 2:8, and on the general ward 1:9 or 0.5:9.5. What's good for the goose goes double for the gander! Or he is a damn hypocrite. He is still a misogynous asshole.

Once we were in the middle of coding a kid and a woman walked up and started to wave her hands over the bedside, the doctor said " who the hell are you?" She said "I'm summoning help from the spirit world!" Of course the doctor yelled "get her the fuck out of here!!!".

Hi! I am glad to see this group exists. I have been trying to advance the Atheist acceptability abroad at St. George's University where I am getting my medical degree. Even in an international school with many cultures represented, Indian, Asian, Caribbean, African, and the already diverse American, we have God in our Hippocratic Oath and my efforts to change this has of course gotten me nowhere. Maybe one day the world will beat my bleeding heart out but not today. :)

It really is a lose-lose situation for us. If they get better it was the result of intervention by Jeebus and thank you to the congregation for prayin' for their recovery. If things go bad, well THAT is NEVER because Gawd didn't answer those prayers.
Can you imagine a malpractice case: well your honor, I don't understand how Mrs. Jones died, I mean, the church was prayin' for her, and all of us were prayin' for her, believe me, we did everything we could!
Well you obviously did, case dismissed!

Hello......hello??? You guys still out there??? I'm a RN in Oklahoma. Guess how much fun that is! Actually, I love what I do but must agree with Mr. Davis. The reliance on god's intervention is maddening sometimes. At least 30 times a day I hear.."We're juss prayen an prayen an we juss know god's gonna heal 'im". It's really hard not ask "And how's that working out for ya so far?" It's sad, really. Dosn't anyone realize that if there was a god who truely answered prayer that NO ONE would die? Good advise from Daniel. I've suggested these very things myself. And it is galling when I get a difficult IV stick on the first try and everyone starts wailing "Thank ya Jeeeesus!" That's when I really have to bite my tongue! Jesus didn't start your IV, dumbass...I did! But....I just smile and carry on. In an environment where a nurse can be fired for being "rude" one must be careful. ........and they wonder why there's a nursing shortage! Thanks for letting me rant. I'm so glad this group is here!
