I was so glad to find this group! I am a second year Nursing Student surrounded by theists. This doesn't bother me much, but I find myself craving some balance.

My guess is that when one of the wives of these damn hypocrites gets a fistula, especially one beyond surgical repair, he will say "I'm just not that into you!" and move on to his next victim!

I don’t know about you but when I do a pelvic on a female bible thumper I do it with both my hands on her knees. What a bunch of ignorant dumabass MoFo’s. You know, if everything is “in god’s hands” or is “god’s will” ,don’t even come to my ER. There are plenty of sane sick people that I can help.

JSH, you have got to be fucking kidding me!!! What if the only specialist for her particular deadly complication is a male OB? He thinks SO LITTLE of his wife/child that he is willing to LET THEM DIE!! Will he do the same for himself if he finds himself in the ICU?? The ratio of male to female OBs is probably something in the neighborhood of 8:2, the ratio in the ICU (if he is lucky) is 2:8, and on the general ward 1:9 or 0.5:9.5. What's good for the goose goes double for the gander! Or he is a damn hypocrite. He is still a misogynous asshole.

Once we were in the middle of coding a kid and a woman walked up and started to wave her hands over the bedside, the doctor said " who the hell are you?" She said "I'm summoning help from the spirit world!" Of course the doctor yelled "get her the fuck out of here!!!".

Hi! I am glad to see this group exists. I have been trying to advance the Atheist acceptability abroad at St. George's University where I am getting my medical degree. Even in an international school with many cultures represented, Indian, Asian, Caribbean, African, and the already diverse American, we have God in our Hippocratic Oath and my efforts to change this has of course gotten me nowhere. Maybe one day the world will beat my bleeding heart out but not today. :)

YES YES YES...I even photocopied that article and hung it around the hospital and gave it to a couple of holy-rollers at work...I did enjoy how they tried to rationalize WHY the payers weren't working...great reading!

wow I've been away a long time! spoending far too much time on Raving Atheists and definitely too much time at work- glad to see there are loads of new members and things are doing ok tho :)
