Hagerstown Cookout: Since we are still in the planning stages....any suggestions are welcome if the consider that we need a site that has a playground the the children, shelter, open spaces. We will not be paying for any pavilions.

A couple of announcements:In Silver Spring, the local atheists are going to the Movies....a foreign film (Korean, comedy) at the AFI Theater in Downtown Silver Spring. Movie starts at 8pm. Directions: take South Hwy 29/Colesville Rd. from I-495. The theater will be near the left corner of Georgia and Colesville Rd.
Hagerstown: We are planning a cookout in the area. Details are not yet available. Atheists from Pa. and W.Va. are welcome

If you're still looking for a beach front park, you might take a look at Gunpowder Falls State Park (Hammerman area) or Rocky Point Park, both in Baltimore County.

Interesting. Thanks for info. It is nice to know that there are some who will stand up for the "Establishment Clause" in the Constitution.

Good article about the smack-down a pastor got from Maryland Senate president Mike Miller for using the "J-word" too much during the opening prayer! Now if they'd just get rid of the opening prayer entirely ....

The Hagerstown Meetup group is planning a picnic. The details aren't available yet, though. Location: Martinsburg War Memorial Park

I guess that I could set up three cookouts, One around Kent Island or further east, one in Columbia, Md. and One in Frederick. I'll space them a couple months apart. Having a beach party would be nice, but the good locations just don't seem to exist.

Well, it is central if you don't count the Eastern Shore. I have never had any luck with secularism on the Eastern Shore. Do you know of anyone who is interested in the area or the counties above Baltimore Co.?

"Gibson Island Park" is actually Downs Park which is on the bay, but much nicer (and more private) than Sandy Point. I'm not sure I agree that Frederick is central...?
