Good News (for me personally)

My attendance at the Reason Rally has recently come into question.  You see, I'm an avid fantasy baseball fan and our draft, which was originally slated for March 31st, got moved to March 24th, noon.  As if blessed by God (sarcasm, obviously), one of my league mates cannot do that day.  It appears as though it's being moved to March 17th, which means I get to go to DC and attend the world's largest secular event EVER!  I feel like a little kid who was told that Christmas was cancelled, only to find out that my parents were fucking with me!  Oh, and keeping with the spirit of this group, I'm also excited for my upcoming draft.  I've got a slew of good, young, cheap keepers: Brett Lawrie ($5)Desmond Jennings ($1)Freddie Freeman ($4)Jose Bautista ($5) Finally, as an introduction, I must proclaim my Phillies fandom.  I have lived in Philly since '92, and it's great to be in the Golden Age of Phillies baseball.  Go Phils!!  Continue

Jonathan are your teams winning?

Cool Jonathan. That's a really nice sentiment. I hope you win next time.

I’m here to complain for a minute. I lost last week by two points. My opponent picked up Philip Humber before Saturday’s game and he threw a perfect game. The event was so rare that he scored 95 points. I’m going to pat myself on the back now and say that I watched the last two innings of his perfect game and even though he was killing my team I cheered for him. I can’t route for someone to lose such a special thing for them just because losing it would benefit me.

Cool thanks for the info Jonathan.

Hi Ronda, I have been playing fantasy baseball for years. It is a great deal of fun and gives me even more reasons to be interested in the game. There are several kinds of fantasy baseball leagues. I won't get into a discussion of all of them here, but if you're interested in giving it a try I think you should. You can play for free on the ESPN website.

So, the first few games of the season are over.  I am glad it has all gotten started again.  How many of you are involved in the fantasy thing?  I don't understand how they work.

Jonathan, not sure my Cards are going to repeat(since none of us here in St. Louis really saw it coming when it did).  And, it will be a lot tougher without Albert Pujols. I know my Royals haven't been very good for a long time.  They never spend the money enough to keep good players

Ronda, I could see them winning one of the wild card spots. Next year will be their year--they're going to have a great deal of money coming off the books after this year.

Hi Jonathan.  So, how do you think your Braves will do this year?

Comment by Jonathan Simeone on March 27, 2012 at 11:24am

I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a huge baseball fan--especially the Atlanta Braves. I'm looking forward to discussing baseball with all of you.
