Good News (for me personally)

My attendance at the Reason Rally has recently come into question.  You see, I'm an avid fantasy baseball fan and our draft, which was originally slated for March 31st, got moved to March 24th, noon.  As if blessed by God (sarcasm, obviously), one of my league mates cannot do that day.  It appears as though it's being moved to March 17th, which means I get to go to DC and attend the world's largest secular event EVER!  I feel like a little kid who was told that Christmas was cancelled, only to find out that my parents were fucking with me!  Oh, and keeping with the spirit of this group, I'm also excited for my upcoming draft.  I've got a slew of good, young, cheap keepers: Brett Lawrie ($5)Desmond Jennings ($1)Freddie Freeman ($4)Jose Bautista ($5) Finally, as an introduction, I must proclaim my Phillies fandom.  I have lived in Philly since '92, and it's great to be in the Golden Age of Phillies baseball.  Go Phils!!  Continue

Royals and Cardinals here.  Nice to meet you, Steve.  I used to really dislike the Yankees, but I don't have a problem with them anymore.

Die hard Chicago Cubs fan here. And Ron Santo was royally screwed by the Hall of Fame for not inducting him while he was still alive.

Hi Pat!  Is there any other kind of Cubs fan??? I do agree on the Santo thing.

Phillies. Best mascot ever!

Steve, yeah, a lot of Phillies love in the Philly area.  great if you're a Phan, not so much if you aren't.

Steve, I grew up in KC, so I was a Royals fan first.  I only moved to St.Louis after they beat the Cards in the WS in 1985.  Boy, did I get grief over that one.

As far as Pujols leaving, it really wasn't super shocking.  I think no one wanted to admit here that it was a possibility.  Oh well, I think they will be ok without him.  I mean, they do have a Cy Young award winner, and another one who could have been in Wainwright coming back this season.  The hitting might be hard to replace.

And, for mascots, my favorite used to be the San Diego Chicken

The Phillie Phanatic is the epitome of class :)

Rhonda, as a Cubs fan, you might agree with the proposition that the St. Louis Cardinals mascot, Fred Bird, is linked to the spread of avian flu.

Just joined the group from St. Louis - home of YOUR 11-time World Champion St. Louis Cardinals!! =D Diehard, lifelong, card-carrying citizen of Cardinal Nation...and yes Pat, Ron Santo should have been inducted into Cooperstown while he was still alive.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
