Have your friend contact me. We do have a group here but its not as well organized as the one in N.O., but we do meet 2-3 times a month.

One of our local members is moving up to the Shreveport area and she's desperate to meet secular thinkers as soon as she can. Is there a group that is meeting regularly around that part of the state?

I'm checking back again to find out if there are any more organized atheist/secular groups in Louisiana. These are the ones I have so far:

NOSHA
SELUSHAN (SELU)
Tulane Secular Student Alliance
UNO Campus Freethought Alliance

If you are a member of a group and/or have the link to an organization that isn't on this list, please send it my way.

Thanks, Charlotte

I am from lake charles (although from illinois originally). I realy wish there was some kind of free-thinking group here.

Response to Corey: Yes, very rare.
So rare, that i personally only know 2 atheists, and they moved to Alabama (the last i heard). I can usually tell if someone is religious, but how do you spot an atheist:)?

I'm trying to get a hang of this group. I received an e-mail that was sent to the group, came here, and it's not on the forum or comment wall. I try to reply to the message, and it gets sent back. Seems a little confusing, that's all. So, i guess there are 3 ways to communicate: forum, comment wall, and sending a message to the group, and you can't reply to that e-mail. Okay i got it.

Hi Guys, I am from Lake Charles. I think this site is a great idea, and I think there are a lot more of us in LC than you would think. The problem is getting them to find this site.

Alexander,
That Shreveport contact info is old and no longer active.
There is a group in the area that is active however:

A lot of their freethinkers aren't members of the church and don't attend on Sundays. I'm just not polite enough for them now, but when I was deconverting from my fundamentalist roots, they were a great place to feel out the world of religion outside of christianity. When I have kids, I'm taking them there for their religious innoculation (their Religious Education programs are great).

I am in N. Louisiana. Does anyone know of any secular humanists meetings?
