Libertarian Atheists: A Minority Within A Minority

I'm happy to have found this group, but I must say was a bit saddened to see that so few people had joined. What is it about having conservative political leanings that is so seemingly taboo among…Continue

I was politically confused for a while. I am still not a big huge fan of the left side of the spectrum because I am concerned with illegal immigration and there are single mothers who are abusing the government benefits. Yes, our ancestors maybe illegal immigrants, but things were different than they were now, especially when I am fearing that I am going to be replaced by an illegal immigrant for cheap labor.

It's good to find a group like this. It seems that among groups of atheists either on the net or my local friends IRL, atheists are automatically assumed to be some sort of fuzzy left. Perhaps this is because they feel driven by the bad behavior of the religious right.

Religion won't fix our problems, but neither will expansive government.

Boortz is the best.  What'll we all do when he retires?  No one can fill his shoes.

Saturday night's Monica Perez show was on demolishing the Fed. Board of Educatio.  On this, I had to disagree.  Don't want these backwards and corrupt Georgians messing with education.  Science would be the first to go.  Then proper English would go, followed by world history.  Afterall many southerns look down on 'other', on difference.

I follow the Minarchists form of Libertarianism. It is a libertarian capitalist political philosophy. In the strictest sense, it maintains that the state is necessary and that its only legitimate function is the protection of individuals from aggression, theft, breach of contract, and fraud, and the only legitimate governmental institutions are the military, police, and courts. In the broadest sense, it also includes fire departments, prisons, the executive, and legislatures as legitimate government functions.

Minarchists argue that the state has no authority to use its monopoly on force to interfere with free transactions between Individuals, and see the state's sole responsibility as ensuring that contracts between private individuals and property are protected, through a system of law courts and enforcement.

Minarchists generally advocate a laissez faire approach to the economy.

In GA, on an am radio station on Sat. 10 pm there is a new 'libertarian' named Monica Perez.  She has a web site, too.  I love her, even though she is too extreme for me and most people.  She calls herself an anarcho-capitalist.

Also, libertarians seem to have taken over Facebook's Conservative-Atheist site, so please visit.  Many are anti-abortion, but the other half are not...too libertarian for that.

I'm more of an independent, though.  Feel like a liar calling myself either conservative or libertarian.  I believe in regulation, to some degree. I think doctors and builders and hairdressers should have licenses.

I am for laissez-faire up to a point. Every game has rules/regualtions or else it is anarchy.

I want Ron Paul for pres.  Am not totally against the FED or totally against or for the gold standard.

Think prostitution, assisted suicide, abortion, homosexuality is ok.

Am against pollution and the raping of mother earth.  Am against unsafe food and cosmetics/health care products.

I've always been athiest.  Didn't know what a libertarian was until I read Alan Greenspan's book.  Read him because I love Ayn Rand and Greenspan wrote an article in Rand's book Capitalism.
