I agree, too many lives have been lost, and WILL be lost, continuing the very profitable War on Drugs! I just want the freedom to choose for myself, not some other bigots idea of what is acceptable and what isn't!

Jim you are big a hpyocrit you fully support legizing drugs but not bring the drink age back to 18.  I have statstics showing that the drinking age really didn't save all that many lives. I have another staststic proving that people who can't drink in public go binge drink in a private home or building.  That is killing about 1,000 teens a year while MADD claims to save 800 lives a year. So when it comes to lives both ways will cost lives but the currrent policy is costing more.  The same agrument will be made for drug and has been made in califonria for cannbis. More people do drugs, get high and then drive.

We can't constantly worred what a person might do. THe government can't controll what people do with there bodies. Its a failed policy no matter the age or drug. Until, you  let go of that agrument. You won't legize drugs because the same people who want the drinking age want to make sure no more drugs are legized for that very reason.  In a free soceity there are always risks involed.  If people really want to curve deaths related to drugs then enourage safe use of drugs and increase public transportation.  In most cities they are cutting amount of buses and bus stops.  What we need is the reverse. Take that drug war money and buy buses! or give it back to the people so the can buy cabs.

Ryan, Legalizing drugs and lowering the drinking age are not related. My point (that I made in your post) concerned the effect of drugs and alcohol on the developing brain not about driving under the influence or what policy saves more lives.
You should provide a link to support the statistics that you cite. Further, incorrect spelling and poor sentence construction diminishes the credibility of your arguments – that may seem unfair but it is what it is.

Drugs do also affect your brain no matter what your age is. I am an adult.   Its not your call what I do with my body. By doing drugs or drinking I am not performing an act of agression on you  and really young people drink anyway.

 

 Don't you think if our drinking age was worth it european countries would have done it?

 

 

It is related because MADD(or any other anti-drug group) will use the car accident agrument  and increased crime agruement aganist you. The mental age agruement isn't one that will work because as long as i mind my own business what do you care? 

 

Don't you find it hypocritical that you are for freedom of choice but expect one adult age group? If you are for freedom of choice even if that product is unhealthy for you. You should be it all the way.

Ryan,  you continue to couch your arguments in terms of freedom of choice – certainly a worthy cause, but you have not addressed the issue that I posited and that is the deleterious effect that drugs and alcohol pose for the developing brain.

Its hard to have a civil conversation when the government with its law enforcements with guns is telling me not to buy beer at a freaken bar.     If you want fucking statstics. If you would click the link its acutally binge drinkg that  linked to more brain damage.  moderate drinking isn't that harmful to a young persons brain. Thanks Susan, my point (on the other thread) was about the biology of brain development and the possibility of drug and alcohol interruption of, or interference with that process. Ryan seems to think I want to stomp on his personal freedom to get shit faced.

If you look at the link. It says binge drinking causes brain damge. Moderate drinkign doens't. matter in fact there acutally could be beneifts to some moderate drinking to your health.
