Life After Christian Fundamentalism

Recovering from the side effects of Christian fundamentalism is not easy.

•The ongoing fear of Hell
•Rejection from family members
•Ongoing guilt
•Loss of community

Welcome to "Life After Christian Fundamentalism."

This group was born out of my meeting with Nate Phelps during the American Atheist Convention in Atlanta.

My wife Angela and I took Nate and his fiancée Angela out to enjoy the evilness of The Varsity. Almost instantly we hit it off, and felt like we had been friends for years. Not only did we have similar backgrounds, but we all shared the desire to help others who were leaving Christian fundamentalism.

I asked Nate to write about his experiences in Atlanta on my blog Life Without Faith. He graciously accepted and you can read it here.

As support for this group, Nate has graciously allowed Atheist Nexus to post the entire transcript of his Atlanta speech. It is long, emotionally moving, and a must read. Check it out here.

Below is a documentary on Nate's Family entitled, "Fall From Grace." Play All Videos In Order (8)

Here is a recent news story featuring my former church:

Oh those are the google ads, they just put ads up based on the words on the page. And since there's a lot of references to church and christianity, pop! the christian ads show up.

btw (by the way) WELCOME!!!!!

Hello all. I am new here. I just discovered this website from a link on someones livejournal. I'm not real computer smart and am having some trouble gettiung used to this new website. I'm sure I'll catch on soon enough hopefully. I am just happy to have found a place for Atheist to have a discussion without constantly being harassed by Christians who think we are evil and going to Hell and need to be saved. Anyway I hope to find lost of useful informatiopn here and meet other like minded people to talk to.

One last thing. How come there is an advertisement for a Christian singles website on here?

Thank you for offering this home (or at least reststop, or campground) for some of us who once called the church "home." I very much appreciate Richard's work with Life Without Faith and offer my own story in my book Life After Faith. My latest blog may be of interest as well: Natural Bible. I invite all thoughtful comments. Peace on the natural path.

I'm soooo glad that more and more people are coming out as atheists and realizing that this whole god thing is disillusionment and very dangerous! I'm also glad that people are thinking for themselves, living their lives to the full, and doing things for themselves instead of relying on a god.

Damn, where have I been?? Hello all! Being officially freed from the fundie fear-tactics is exhilarating!! Though, I never really believed in that crap. Guess I was just keeping up appearances. Glad to be here!!
