Kyriarchy are the structures of domination working together as a network - not just one group dominating another. Its branches include but are not limited to racism, sexism, cissexism, heterosexism, ageism, and ableism.

Actions That Rock:
When people work together to make the world a better place.
When people know how to listen to other people sharing their experiences.
Actions That Suck:
When people think able bodies are better than disabled bodies.
When people think that thin bodies are more desirable than fat bodies.
When people think a certain generation is superior to an older/younger generation.
When people think one ethnicity is more cultured than another ethnicity.
When people think one skin color is higher or lower on a scale than another color.
When people think one sex is better than another sex.
When people think one gender is more valid than another gender.
When people think one orientation is more natural than another orientation.
When people think one religion is more correct than another religion.
When people think the wealthy are more entitled to human rights than the poor.
And many more on both lists...

Seriously people, the religionists are now winning! Vote for Option 3, and keep Ohio from having a election day voting sticker that calls upon God!
Valid Ohio zip codes are 45044, 45069, 45014, 45424, 45365...

Comment by Ian Mason on June 16, 2011 at 12:17pm Younger children have often copied what they think older children do. There are enough horror stories in the media about eating disorders to stimulate copy-cat behaviour.
The more stable lifestyle suggested may help in combating the development of more serious problems for many, in the spirit of "a stitch in time saves nine", mostly because parents get more involved in their childrens' well-being thus helping them to a reasonable sense of self-worth.
Does any of that make sense to you? I'm not playing down the problem. My daughter had a brush with anorexia some years ago and it frightened the shit out of me. I just feel that careful, considered steps work better than a media panic.

Comment by Ian Mason on June 10, 2011 at 7:20am Oxford dictionary: Racist: 1) The belief that each race has certain qualities or abilities, giving rise to the belief that certain races are better than others. 2) discrimination or hostility towards other races.
"Race is a cultural concept, not a scientific one". Gil Grissom.
