Hi Cody. Kentucky is, like most southern states, a hot bed for religion and being brought up that way make a change tough. Glad to hear that you are thinking for yourself. It ain‘t easy son, but you will feel genuine relief when you can cast off the shackles of your brainwashing and live life without guilt. Hang in there. You have a lot of support. As a transplanted Kentuckian, I am not well loved for my beliefs but that’s their insecurity not my atheism.

PLEASE do not go to my page and nag at me for not being more active on this site.  It pisses me off.

Wish there was more activity on here. Been in KY for over a year and would love to find some other atheists to hang out with. My wife and I would give anything to find another normal, atheist couple with young kids. We need rational people to relate to!!!

Anyone know how to protest the fact I have to vote in a church? I hate the fact that I'll have to drive down to a local, backwoods church to vote for my next elected officials.

Bowling Green Picnic - Sunday, June 24, 2012 12:00pm until 3:00pm

Pack a picnic lunch and join area freethinkers, atheists, and agnostics for a fun family day at the park! We have the main pavilion at Kereiakes reserved. This is the large shelter with the restrooms. There are several picnic tables but you may want to bring blankets or chairs. (Alcohol is not allowed in Bowling Green City parks.) There will be children's activities and door prizes. Bring yourself or the entire family. Everyone is welcome! You don't want to miss it! We'd appreciate knowing if your coming. See our event on our FB page

and I generally don't misspell "you're" but don't see how to correct it.

For those who live in Owensboro, Ky or close to it, we've been working on putting together a group -- the Owensboro Freethinkers -- for atheists, freethinkers, humanists, etc.  Please check out our Facebook page under groups for more information.  We get together twice a month (2nd Thursday and 4th Saturday).  If you're in the area, we're a small group, but we're trying to grow.  Feel free to visit us to network with other like-minded folks who share freethinking values.

I was an athlete in hart co, right next to green co and we had a pre game and post game prayer. That was over 10 yrs ago, but obviously the trend continues, unfortunately.

So trick or treating had to be pushed to Tuesday night instead of Wednesday night in Danville because apparently the evangelicals have church on Wednesday nights. I guess they don't want their kids to miss out on the devil's night so they moved it to Tuesday. In my own stupidity I assumed Halloween would be held on Halloween (Wednesday) and booked a work trip on Tuesday. Now I might miss my daughter's trick or treating because the Christians run things in Danville.

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 12 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
