Are there any other atheist families in, or around, Danville? My wife and I are going nuts here without friends in the area. I work in Cybersecurity and she's a stay at home mom. We have a little girl and a boy on the way. Would be nice to have some other friends to hang out with from time to time without being asked what church we belong to.

Thanks Eric, I appreciate it, I don't drink however, but I will let you buy me a soda. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to get out much and explore, but Louisville is only 30 or so miles, so I need to put that on my list of things to do....

BC you are definitely in trouble. You'll be limited to activities in Lex or Louisville at the very least. There are good music venues in those cities but everywhere else will definitely be full of the religious. My wife and I have been here 2 years and haven't found any rational friends. It's tough. But if you're ever in Danville I'll buy you a beer.

So, I am new to KY. What is there to do here for a straight, single , non-smoking atheist? I find that I run into "church" people a lot, and those are not the kind of people I associate with. Looking for ideas, all suggestions welcome!

And may I also take this moment to say "hello" to all of you, looking forward to being part of the community!

Feel free to come over to kyatheists.com and have your voice heard; we are trying to create the "opinion" section of a newspaper if the newspaper was an all atheists paper. If you are in Kentucky, we want YOU to write for us!

One could literally choke on the irony when it comes to Halloween, AND if I hear one more "thank god" when I have medically treated someone, I'm gonna---------------

That would almost be worth driving over there to see that. But he clearly needs the attention and I wouldn't want to encourage him.

I also love the crazy evangelicals that stand in downtown Danville on Saturdays with big bloody jesus pictures for my 3 year old to see.

So trick or treating had to be pushed to Tuesday night instead of Wednesday night in Danville because apparently the evangelicals have church on Wednesday nights. I guess they don't want their kids to miss out on the devil's night so they moved it to Tuesday. In my own stupidity I assumed Halloween would be held on Halloween (Wednesday) and booked a work trip on Tuesday. Now I might miss my daughter's trick or treating because the Christians run things in Danville.

I was an athlete in hart co, right next to green co and we had a pre game and post game prayer. That was over 10 yrs ago, but obviously the trend continues, unfortunately.

Come together one and all

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
