Kansas Atheists

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS? NOTHING THAT A FEW WELL ORGANIZED AND CONNECTED ATHEISTS CAN'T FIX. FROM ENDING THE PRACTICE OF CHURCHES BEING POLLING PLACES, TO KEEPING IDIOTS FROM POLLUTING OUR SCIENCE STANDARDS..

Hello Jayhawkers, Wildcats, Shockers, Gorillas, and Tigers fans and residents of The great state of Kansas!! What's the matter with us? Nothing. As our state motto suggests: Ad Astra per Aspera. Or: To The Stars With Difficulty.

Welcome and let's keep the wingnuts out of our school system's science classes.

Good to see you.

Bravo for starting a KS group! I'm going to alert the Society of Open-Minded Atheists and Agnostics (SOMA) at KU to this group! I'm sure a lot of people will be interested!

The billboard is quite amusing. I am not suprised that it is Iggy's idea. You see, around here, he is known as "the little Russian atheist". He is a Russian immigrant who has been here since 1992 or so but has not bothered to become a citizen.

He was raised under the officially atheitic government of the old (now dead) Soviet Union in the 80'2 and 90's and believes that the methods used by that government, including mass ridicule, ad hominems, poster, banners, flyers, etc can be effective in combating religion.

He tried to shut down the blog of the religon editor of the Kansas City Star, Bill Tammeus, by using such tactics, but failed. The archives of his rants are in the December and January (2008) of Bill's blog at the Kansas City Star.

He bragged about this over the the forum of the Heartland Humanists (a Kansas City atheist group) but that forum was itself shut down when they couldn't answer the repeated arguments of a couple of Anti Atheists.

What he has never realized is that his tactics, which he thinks are so successful, failed in the Old Soviet Union and that the Soviet Union ITSELF failed.

Some people just don't get it.

Debbie and Orwell are toast. I will manage this group by hook or by crook. To all Xtian trolls that attempt to join our group, you are not welcome. This is not a group you can handle intellectually and certainly one that will not tolerate your disruptions.

Iggy is a joke. This guy does not speak for most atheists, and he spreads vicious remarks all over the web.

Orwell IS a troll, but I don't know about Debbie. I know, I work in the jerks building. But Iggy IS a disgrace, and isn't helping anything to use old style Soviet tactics that failed utterly.

The man is a fool.

anyone that refers to "soviet style tactics" is walking a fine line towards a quick banishment here. I will ban and ban and ban and ban. It has nothing to do with authoritarianism and everything to do with civility. I will not countenance uncivil behavior on this site. If you are truly an atheist, you won't question other's motives for being here.

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 5 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…

Anti-atheist post from an Orthdox Mormon

What do you think of this Facebook comment?

Nathan Young to Jason Torpy,

for once you and I can agree on something.  We should disrespect beliefs that are untenable such as the belief that there is no God.  Indeed for me to respect you Jason, I cannot respect your belief in non-belief in atheism.  Your atheism comes across as arrogrance, smugness, and self righteous.  Indeed after reading "An Open Letter to My Religious Friends" I penned one…
