WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS? NOTHING THAT A FEW WELL ORGANIZED AND CONNECTED ATHEISTS CAN'T FIX. FROM ENDING THE PRACTICE OF CHURCHES BEING POLLING PLACES, TO KEEPING IDIOTS FROM POLLUTING OUR SCIENCE STANDARDS..

Comment by Grace Fitzpatrick on February 22, 2011 at 10:12pm Hi everyone, kinda enjoyed the snow but looking forward to the end of winter. We had our 20 year old cat put to sleep last week. She would have been 21 in May. The house feels a little empty. We loved her, she was a housecat, had an easy life and got lots of attention. Gets me to thinking about religion's obsession with life after death. Do you think part or most of the appeal is that it's an answer? I do. I have had family members die. It's like,I know they are dead, and at the same time I can't comprehend that. I have noticed the more emotionally attached I was to them the harder it is. Guess cause I had more to lose. I think we do have an afterlife, we are in the memories of others. That's enough for me. I know I handle the pain of death of a loved one like so many religious people do. We cry, we hurt. Go through the stages of grieving and eventually come out the other side. Then the differences start. They think they will all be reunited in this abstract happy land. Whereas I can accept the reality and take comfort in knowing they are dead. No sorrows worries or regrets. And they are in my memories. Well, that's my 2 cents worth for the day.Welcome to all the new members.

because then you can do the word game of Athee Souhaits (Atheist Wishes)
Hi everyone, I don't say anything if I get blessed after a sneeze. I don't say anything if someone else sneezes either. I was at work one time when a co-worker sneezed and I didn't say anything. There were just the two of us in the room. The guy gave me a strange look then blessed himself. My husband, sometimes, likes to have fun with people. If someone says God bless you to him, he has asked them what would they say if God sneezed? As far as I know no one has ever responded to that. I have never believed in God or supernatural anything. My husband has been a nonbeliever since somewhere in Jr. High. I am 56, he is 63 and we seem to have reached a time in our lives where we don't give a damn what people think.
