Kansas Atheists

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS? NOTHING THAT A FEW WELL ORGANIZED AND CONNECTED ATHEISTS CAN'T FIX. FROM ENDING THE PRACTICE OF CHURCHES BEING POLLING PLACES, TO KEEPING IDIOTS FROM POLLUTING OUR SCIENCE STANDARDS..

Hi Scott, I think we all deal with this problem. White, Christian, Republicans. Kansas is infested with them. Most of them don't know what to do with an openly out Atheist. It's scary and mysterious so they ignore you and don't call. Some can be downright mean. I don't get that close to most people. I just have friends that I don't talk that much to on a personal level. I see people at places like Crochet Guild and sewing classes, where we talk about what we are doing like Crochet and sewing.

I have made it clear that only my beliefs has changed, not who I am as an individual.  It's truly sad that people are not open minded enough to understand.  Oh well, at least I'm FREE!

Heh, I know the feeling Scott. It is a price we pay to see through the bull shit.

But welcome to the group, and try talking to your friends, letting them know that just because you de-converted your not a different person.

Good Morning fellow non believers!  Now that I have "come out", I'm looking to establish some friendships with like minded individuals.  Many of my "believing" friends seem to think I'm no longer worthy of their time. Take care and enjoy your day!

Yeah, I checked that. I don't mind driving to KC. Since my daughter was born, it's kind of hard to leave town for any long period of time. I may try to make it to one eventually.

Tyler, just noticed that you are in Ottawa Kansas. This link will direct you several of the groups closest to you. Looks like you'll have some driving to do.

@Tyler. There are several such groups throughout Kansas. Let me know where you live (approximately) and I will direct you to your nearest group.

Does anyone belong to any Atheist groups in Kansas that actually meet up occasionally?

I'm so sorry about the loss of your father. I lost my father over the summer, too. I am planning on moving back to Kansas sometime in the next year. I grew up in the Leavenworth area.
