I have just joined the group of Indian Atheists. As remarked by a menber, I too feel that Indian  Atheist should become more active. There are many atheist in India but they may not join the group unless they feel intellectuallyn attracted to Indian Atheists. i do not know in whose hands the leadership rests, but the leadership should also become more active.

Hi, I joined this group a couple of months ago and slowly realising the whole Indian group is totally passive; here and also at Nirmukta. Do we continue to be in the same state or become active? I don't think that that was our intention when we enrolled into these groups.  Not that I expect to change the world, but this group can achieve something even if it is little. What do you all say?

Hi Hemant Raja. Sorry to hear that life and those around you are treating you badly. Keep a firm grip on your logical thinking. I'm reminded of Kipling, not popular in India I know but:

"If you can keep your head when all about are loosing theirs

And blaming it on you......

 

You'll be a Man, my son."

 

I wish you the fortitude to bear your crisis and the hope of finding relief from the unworthy pressure of others.

We are happy to inform that VIII World Atheist Conference is jointly convened by

Dravidar Kazhagam, Atheist Centre and The Rationalists’ Forum on 7,8 & 9 January

2011 in Tiruchirapalli, a city centrally located in Tamil Nadu State, India. This Corporation City is well connected by road, train and air.

The conference is being conducted by the movements founded by the great atheists,

social reformers and humanists - Periyar E.V.Ramasami (1879-1973) and Gora (1902-1975). The movements founded by these leaders are not mere organisations but active mass movements working ceaselessly for the betterment of human life by dispelling ignorance and superstitions and instilling the urge to resort to rational thinking and promoting scientific temper among the masses, as well as the educated.

At present - in the twentyfirst century - people face recurring acts of terrorism and

violence. Humanity is divided as various sectarians because of gods, religion, rituals,

priestly class, and bigotry. They are the roots of division and perpetual catalyst agents for disharmony and discord. Humanism must be made to triumph at any cost. Positive Atheism is the only solution to create a new world devoid of wars and discriminations.

‘Forget God and think of humans’ was the call given by Thanthai Periyar a long ago in

Tamil Nadu through his Self- Respect Movement. Gora gave the call for Positive Atheism- which is nothing but humanism.

Atheism is the choicest flower of harmony, peace, progress and unity of humanity.

Atheistic way of life is the need of the hour and the theme of the conference is accordingly chosen as “Atheism - An Alternate Culture.” Why we have chosen it as an alternative culture will be discussed at the Conference,

The conference will be organised in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu where Periyar E.V.R.,

the great rationalist had spent a significant span of his life to lead the movement.

These videos are Nirmukta's contribution towards the OUT CAMPAIGN, urging Atheists from all walks of life to come out about their non-belief to friends and family.
