OMG why is there no Atheist group in southern Indiana. I'm from Evansville. To anybody reading this... we need a soIN atheist group! If you're also interested, please contact me and we can talk about what we might do.

I'm still in shock. Less than a year ago, I thought I could be the only Atheist in Northern Indiana. Seeing a billboard near a busy intersection for Michiana Skeptics made me do a triple-take. I still need to pinch myself everytime I see it. Then an Atheist sign bus campaign in South Bend? WOW! This is cool. A year ago, I never would have believed it possible. Onward, and Upward!

The bus campaign is coming to South Bend. First a billboard and now a bus campaign. We might be taking over the city.

Hello vacuum land. (as my favorite CBC radio announcer used to say... and it seems appropriate for the internet): I am northeast Indiana (between Angola and Fremont) spending the summer, planting grapes, and trying accomplish something. It would be very pleasing to meet a few like minded cranks. My own particular view on religion, in general, is that it is a kind of club. Clubs with a lot of members can boss around people who are not well organized. Religions organize using the powerful forces of: ritual and good stories. These, I believe, are the two central elements of religious power.

Religion, however, should not be dismissed and made the butt of jokes. The possibility of religion is hardly a flattened irrational club with a cosmos of ghosts and demons. Religion has a significantly deep history within humanity, that we need not so much to battle it but to come to terms with it.

Scientific Examination of Religion At CFI Indy —Sunday, April 19, 6:00 p.m., Center for Inquiry Indiana, 350 Canal Walk, Suite A, Indianapolis. The discussion topic will be: "God Against the Gods: The History of the War Between Monotheism and Polytheism" by Jonathan Kirsch. Sean O'Brien is the discussion leader.

This will be the fourth time I attend one of these discussions, they are very interesting and Sean has been a very informed discussion leader.

Hi. This is my first post. I'm from the west side of Indy. Looks like a lot of you are very nearby; Janie Danger, kyle, stewy, Jude Johnson, Miranda, Justin, Charles, James. I am very interested in starting a community as many of you have said. Has anyone started doing this? There is a group that meets called The Indianapolis Atheists Meetup Group. Is anyone affiliated? I was considering looking into it. I joined Richard Dawkins.net and the Brights also. I had kind of given up meeting like minded people, or even having long distance relationships with them ;) but suddenly I've found so many. It kind of rocks. I turned my back on the supernatural when I was 11 in 1978. I've been waiting a long time to even be a member of a micro trend. Things got really weird after 911, religion went viral, Bush even let Wiccans into Arlington (no disrespect). Now that the religious right has cratered maybe things can be more rational... yeah right. Anyway, it's cool that the truth sometimes inspires people.

I'm planning on going to another CFI Indy book discussion/ examination of religion meeting on Sunday March 22nd. 6pm. Anyone who is interested should come check it out. The book being discussed is "50 reasons people give for believing in a god". The last meeting like this got pretty interesting as a group of young earth creationist came to the discussion.
