Humanist Canada 2011 AGM and Conference

Humanist Canada members and everyone who hopes their descendants will inherit Planet Earth, mark your calendars for SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 2, 2011. The Humanist Canada annual conference will be held in fabulous downtown Toronto at the very elegant Courtyard Marriott Hotel. This year’s theme is "Planetary Overload – Survival of the Human Species."

Why you should attend HC 2011 - Planetary Overload:

- Meet your Humanist friends and colleagues from across the country

- Make our presence felt in Canada’s largest city

- Secular Pride

- Participate in the HC Annual General Meeting

- Help raise awareness of the most critical problem facing humanity today—the destruction of the environment that sustains us!

What's Happening to Our Environment Now: The world’s largest rainforests are being devastated, 90% of the big fish have been plundered from the oceans and species are disappearing at an alarming rate. In addition, the polar ice caps are melting, the ozone layer is thinning and the world population is approaching 7 billion on a planet that can accommodate only 2 billion human beings.

Who will put a stop to the madness?

Humanism insists that personal liberty must be combined with social responsibility. Humanism ventures to build a world on the idea of the free person responsible to society, and recognises our dependence on and responsibility for the natural world.

( excerpted from the Amsterdam Declaration of the World Humanist Congress, 2002 )

Governments see continuous economic growth as the most important goal. Big business is programmed to pursue increasingly large profits and religions numb the masses with assurances that the gods will fix everything. It is up to Humanists and like-minded partners to raise the alarm and show people what is happening to their life-support system. Come to Toronto and learn more about what we can do to save our planet and to enable the human species to survive!

Volunteer and Get a Front-Row Seat: If you would like to join a conference sub-committee and land a front row seat to some of the action, please contact our Conference Chair, Dr Kevin Saldanha
