Missed him in my town where he debated with D'Souza at Notre Dame. So it on Youtube though and it was very good.

This evangelical tries to make the same tired old analogy:

"I can't help but see the irony. It appears some New Atheists are incorporating the very traits they've often condemned about evangelicals -- intolerance, dogmatism, and now even the church's penchant for schism. It seems anything can be turned into a religion, even anti-religion."

Atheism CANNOT be equivocated to a religion, you blithering idiot.
It is contempt for blind faith in supernatural forces and all things teleological. It embodies contempt for all things 'religious'.
Go Hitchens.

Hello All,
I had no Idea about Hitch's brother, until I saw him on a sunday morning debate show a few weeks ago; it was surreal, he looked and sounded like Christopher, but was called Peter, and was the philosophical antithesis of him!

I've since discovered he wrotes for the Daily Mail (a spiteful conservative paper in the UK), he's a committed christian, and he doesn't like foreigners or gays (obviously or he wouldn't write for that paper)

I'm sure this won't be popular in your love fest but I consider Hitchens a mean old drunk and a fraud that changed his political stripes to a point of view that matches his disposition. He rants against theist, great, but then since his 9/11 conversion to neoconservatism, spouts unqualified support for the Israeli Theocracy. Like any good neocon, he supports our own terrorist war against Iraq. He ignores that we have used those evil WMDs to kill more innocents in defense of Israel and to regain control of Iraqi oil than al queada or Saddam could ever manage. In his debate with Chris Hedges, he rants like a drunken madman and in the end, Hedges comes across as the one that makes a stronger arguement against fundamentalism whether it's Muslim, Christian or Jewish.

Hitchens doesn't argue when called a "reformed socialist", but he has gone all the way to the Karl Rove, Pat Robertson brand of Nazi politics that pretends that the US has some moral highground in it's continuing efforts to sustain a dying American Empire. He should renounce his American citizenship and go live in a kibbutz. He puts the interest of the Terrorist State of Israel than he does his own nation, even if he does it just to sell books and get noticed. He's a nasty old drunk and can't hold a candle to the Four Horsemen.

Hitchens is marvelous; and yes, why don't we see more of him? His voice is vital and I soooo appreciate this site and it's presentation of his (Hitchens') work.

The Hitch has another book, a memoir, coming out 1 or 2 June 2010. Amazon.com is taking pre-orders now.

That picture of him on the profile makes him look like a complete badass... And wow, I love that tribute below, especially the Johnny Walker thing. Is the guy ever -not- sloshed? And yet he still carries on perfect conversation and near flawless winning debates... Can you imagine him at the height of sobriety? He'd be a goddamn nuclear weapon...
