Yes, I know, there have been plenty of tributes to the Hitch.  Considering the impact that he had on the world and on atheism, one more can't hurt.Besides ... things like this keep Hitchens alive for…Continue

Good book, Kelvin, though not Hitch's best.  One suspects he had a lot on his mind when writing it.

Currently reading "HITCH 22."

Hard to believe it's been a year already since Hitch left us. He is sorely missed. I'll read some of his stunning writing today and raise a glass of something delightfully alcoholic in his honor!

It's enabled or disabled at the group level.  Most of my groups that the bot joined didn't have it happen, since it's disabled in those groups.

In some groups, it's used properly.  For example, Dr. Darrel Ray makes very on-topic, appropriate use of the group message feature, in Secular Sexuality.  He's spamming us about things involving his research, in which many of us are interested and want to participate.

Somebody is spamming the groups for insurance sales or something like that.  Can't the site block these sales pitches?

I would recommend that everyone get a copy of the "Quotable Hitchens." Hilarious and pithy. And pick up the "Portable Atheist" if you want a wide variety of famous author's essays on atheism. I have is last collection of essays, "Arguably." I can't wait for his last book, "Mortality" to be released. By the way, feel free to check out my blog post, "Religion: The Dogma of Cognitive Dissipation."

@DavidW -- IMO, god is Not Great is the best place to start. In fact, if you have Audible, I highly recommend the audio version. It's unabridged, and read by Mr. Hitchens himself. Lovely.

I'm ready to start reading some Hitchens. I guess I've always been intimidated, or felt unworthy to read him. Can't explain it.

I've always liked his passion and unforgiving attacks on religion as a subject.

For you Hitchens enthusiasts out there, which book would you recommend for my virgin eyes to read?

Some Wiccans and their seeking approval from Christians

One of the many religions that I had once belonged to was Wicca.  It seems to me a lot of Wiccans but not all as well as some members of other Neo-Pagan groups seek the uncritical and unconditional acceptance from Christians and folk of other religions for their beliefs.  This is understandable in its own way but I think you'd be wasting your time with the fundamentalists adherents of any non-neopagan religion.  They don't want to accept or agree with anyone else's religious beliefs other than…See More
