Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

If you're up for a good read (if I say so myself), I'd like to share the news that my novel, "The Holy Family," is now available in paperback and digital editions.

Dale McGowan, author of the forthcoming "Atheism for Dummies," had this to say about "The Holy Family": "'The Holy Family' is a rich and engrossing story, elegant and moving. Though it takes place on the epic stage of religious belief and disbelief, the drama itself is simple, humane, and ultimately devastating as the title’s twin meanings gradually come into focus. A unique and deeply satisfying read."

There's plenty of information at this link, including how to purchase a copy. I'd love to hear from readers, and hope you'll feel free to discuss the book with other folks at Atheist Nexus.

Loren...it's a good thing I don't drink coffee; just tea.  That graphic is painful enough as it is...'cause I have astigmatism.  Owtch!

I have a question for you...there are so many groups in here anymore, that it's difficult to scroll through all of them to find a new one on a topic I'm interested in.  Do YOU know of any groups for SF and Fantasy readers?   NOT movies and TV fans.  I'd like to discuss Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCaffrey with people who are familiar with their work.  (And Heinlein, Spider Robinson, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and more.)  IS there such a group?

(I loved Star Trek, but kept falling asleep halfway through TNG, and never bothered watching the other spin-offs. Same thing with Star Warts, and the filmed versions of Harry Potter....I just can't stay focused on the screen the same way I can on printed pages.  I've never attempted to even borrow a friend's Kindle, even though it's been offered many times.)

Do you know of a group of SF readers?  Do ya?  Do ya?  Huh?

Melinda, thanks for that pontiff as a sort of "Mr. Potato Head"!

(The Church of Big Business and Big Macs?...)

The U.S. election tomorrow will be too close for comfort. Ruth, I like your "Obama vs. Romney vs. Hurricane Sandy" in the Frankenstorm discussion...

If Romney gets elected he'll push fossil fuel and eviscerate FEMA. Sometimes I think Republicans have a hole in their head to not connect the dots of climate change.

My take: it's not an ordinary "lesser of two weevils" choice.

Vote Democratic - kick the weevils out! (donkey from pamsclipart.com)[donkey from pamsclipart.com]

For those of you who haven't had your coffee this morning ... and maybe for those of you who have had too much ... try the following on for size:
