Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

It seems as though some numb-nuts New York pastor by the name of Stephen Kim has written two marriage advice pieces for christian men and women.  Not surprisingly, his suggestions come straight out of his never-fail magic book.  Seth Andrews of The…Continue

Ok.....so I was perusing eBay just the other day and stumbled upon this item that I just HAD to get as soon as I saw it.  After all, it's never too early to start thinking about Halloween.  I'm so proud of my purchase that I had to share it with you.  So cute.....

She's a pretty cat, Melinda. Hope she gets over her problems.

R.e. your friend's daughter: listening to her and taking her seriously is the best thing you can do. A good listener is a priceless treasure.

Just been to see Beckett's "Endgame". There's a lot of good laughs in the existential misery. Either that or it was the work of an imaginative director. I think the basic message was that the master is more a prisoner than the servant but there must be many other interpretations.

Thanks Steph and Spud.  The vet said Lula cringed whenever she squeezed her in a certain place, and maybe she hurt herself somehow.  They gave her a pain-pill, plus one for tomorrow, and one for Monday.  Monday they will give us the results of her blood-work.  I'm hoping by Monday she is back to her usual self.  She is 11 in April.  This is Lula, but I'm sure I've posted her picture here before.  Love Jamez Bond kittez Steph! lol

Nice to have you back here Ian. I give to many animal causes Patricia. I enjoy helping animals.

Booklover I hope your cat Lula is Ok. Maybe she is under the weather and just needs a checkup at the vet. MAybe the vet can give her something and get her going. I am thinking about you and I hope everything goes OK.

That is so nice of you to help out that friend of yours. It is so nice to have a friend there when you need one.

Ruth, does part of the Memetic Evolution set that is outside of US mean that other animals have memes also?

Hi Ian!  I agree with Chris.  No fun dealing with institutions and social workers.  I can only imagine how frustrating.  I'm happy for you that you get to take your daughter with you when you return!  And nice that you got to spend time with your brother and his family.:)

My cat Lula has been on the couch now for 2 days and won't leave it.  I don't even know if she's drinking or going to the litterbox.  When we pet her she doesn't purr, but she's alert and looks at us and sniffs our hands.  I am going to call the vet this a.m..  That is just so out of character for her. :(

I have a friend who is bi-polar and she is not doing well at all.  Her ex has a drinking problem, and she suspects he sells drugs.  Neither have jobs.  Their 19-year old daughter texted me and asked for a ride home from work last night to her dad's, where she doesn't want to be but has no choice right now.  I've known her since she was about 4.  We have been talking on Facebook.  I picked her up, bought her dinner, and took her home.  Since her dad wasn't home she wanted me to come in and meet her cat Greta.  She was adorable!  I feel so bad for this girl, but there isn't much more that I can do except offer rides and listen to her.  She had had to walk home in the dark 7 miles the night before because her dad was irresponsible.  I know it's not my problem, but I wish I could think of some way to help her.  I just gave her motherly advice and told her to call me any time.
