Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

An association between the amount of fruit and vegetables people ate and their happiness? Yes indeed. People who ate 7 portions of fruits and/or vegetables a day were the happiest.…Continue

Yes Melinda, they say that our healthcare system is too expensive - hah, they privatized it first, took out the juicy bits and the bills are for the ordinary people. More and more things are 'own risk' meaning that you have to pay everything yourself and the bills are rising. People have already stopped using medicins because of the cost; yesterday I heard of someone with a bleeding stomach ulcer - he had stopped using antacids. I can't rant in English but I feel like it!

I'll stop it now. Enjoy you good day!

Joan, thanks!  I have tried eliminating a lot of things over the years to no avail.  I do have a week of two a month where I feel GOOD!  It's then that I have hope and think I can do something, like get a job, etc. and then BAM! the symptoms return.  I can live with it, but I hate it.

I am sorry Felaine about the money being so tight.  That sucks!  And you have every right to complain, and your friends here will sympathize! I could not agree more with you about Universal Single-Payer Healthcare being the only way to go!!! OILigarchy~ ha ha that's great!

Ruth, I am going to tell them why I feel I can't be on a jury, and give them my Dr.'s number.  I thought of bringing in all my prescription bottles! lol.  That cake is too gorgeous to eat!  I'd hate to be the one to make the first cut in it!!  That's a piece of art! I do eat healthy things a lot, but the problem is when I don't feel well, the most soothing thing that makes me actually feel better is ice cream!  I think the heavy coldness in my stomach or something. You're right about the self-soothing!  I'm sorry you have pain!

Chris, is your country seriously trying to make their system more like the US?  NO ONE should use our healthcare system as a model!!!

I actually feel good today, so, I'm off to take advantage of that!  All of you are awesome!!  I love starting my day by looking on Hang with Friends! :)

AN was down for maintenance - most of my day but I'm glad you're back. What a horrible healthcare system have you got! And to think that they break down our healthcare system to make it more like the US system!

Hah!  The top of that cake immediately reminded me of this classic LOLCAT:

Booklover, love the cabinet cat. But how does it do that? Is there a hole in the bottom of the cupboard? Good luck with the new med. You might be able to get out of jury duty due to medical issues. If you didn’t get a form with that option to check off call the number and explain you medical problems re:sitting. Give the person in charge your doctor’s number. I know exactly what it’s like trying to lose weight when you’re ill. Since I’ve had more pain I eat too much to self-soothe. It think it’s instinctive. If you keep exercising as much as you can, it’s good. I found it helpful to have bowls of ready to eat salad munchies in the fridge.

Yes, Ian. Even with technically the same volume a commercial sound track can seem louder and be extra annoying. We keep a finger on the mute button when commercials pop up.

Love the Gay Agenda, Idaho Spud! As for positive long term memories of commercial products, my husband buys Hostess Snowballs because they remind him of his childhood. These commercials get imprinted in us when we’re young, and later remind us of that happy innocence when we took much joy in the simple pleasures of (crappy) commercial quality cake or sweet and breakfast cereal. LOL on identifying with Grumpy Cat. I think he’s so popular because we all recognize a bit of ourselves in him.

Have a happy! (and eat it too)

Melinda, I can't believe a home owner would cut a hole in a cabinet to get that kitty shot! Why they did it, it doesn't matter, that is a dandy shot. Their kitchen appliances look sharp as well.

I agree so whole heatedly and we really have to participate with those trying to get single payer plans through. It will be really tough because of money owning all branches of government. USA is totally off track as far as government is concerned. Patient care has to be prime mover of health care, not insurance profits.

Melinda, some pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs for people who are low income and can't afford any type of insurance. I am on Medicare, but never signed up for Part D because it's a scam for the benefit of Big Pharma only, BUT Pfizer sill has their Connection to Care service, and I get two prescriptions from them...at absolutely NO cost.  Neither one (Glucotrol-XL, and Neurontin) is horribly expensive, but still...the program saves me about $50 a month.

What always upsets me is that they deduct about 10% of my monthly Social Insecurity to pay for Medicare Part B...outpatient expenses. After I pay the utilities and maintenance on this house, I have a hellova time trying to decide whether to buy my other meds from the neighborhood pharmacy (they  give me an enormous discount on some meds...and free delivery. I always want to hug the owner. He's such a gentle man...in all senses of the word[s]), or food, and cat care stuff. The kittehs' needs come before mine do.

Another thing that sets my hair on fire is that the same drugs that cost a month's salary in the US are priced quite reasonably in other countries.  Not generics, but the exact same drugs, made by the exact same companies.

That is SO wrong!

This has not really been a democracy since the Reagan/Bush years.  We are a plutocracy.  Or is it oligarchy?  "OILigarchy"?  (When the price of fuel goes up, so does the price of everything else....see all them big trucks on the roads?  Except for short runs, ALL merchandise should be shipped by rail. Much more economical.)

O HAI!  Felaine is ranting again.  Yanno whut?  It feels GOOD!

PS: A very dear friend of mine has severe Crohn's disease, and she got duped into signing up for Medicare Part D when it first started up, and half the time the insurance company that pays the bills refuses to refill her prescriptions for one BSing reason or another.  So, she's bedridden and suffering, and can't do anything about it.

Universal Single-Payer Healthcare is the ONNNLLLY way to go!

Melinda, it matters that you don't feel good and can't find the way to end it. Are there any foods you find that stir it up? Have you tried staying away from wheat, or milk, or gluten? Surely you have tried all the obvious things. Do keep looking for the trigger, surely something is making mischief.

I have no problems such as you describe and am of no use to helping you find the culprit. Keep asking; someone may have an idea.

You are able to keep your pretty smile, even as you are not feeling good. That's positive!

Life is sure not as fun as it was before I got this. I can basically eat and drink what I want, except I don't drink alcohol very often and never when either of my stomach conditions are acting up. I don't really like spicy- hot food so I wouldn't know if it made my condition worse. I guess it doesn't matter since I don't eat it! I feel bad that I feel bad for myself on occasion when so many others have so many worse things, but I guess it's okay to NOT want to have health-issues!!!!!
