Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Well, considering all the RFRA bills popping up all over the United States, plus all the fun and games ISIS is bringing to the good folks in Syria and Iraq, Betty Bowers, the epitome of well-dressed christianity, has decided to clarify the true…Continue

Let's not define ourselves or others by our worst behaviors

My take on the recent melt down at Hang With Friends, of which I missed part, is that some of us were tripped up by a habit of thought. It's something we learn growing up, and use without realizing how much pain it can generate -  failing to…Continue

Ode to Yahweh (Non Stamp Collector & 43alley)

Ages ago (five or six years, I guess it is) when I first started recognizing my own atheism, one of the first atheist YouTubers I ran onto was Non Stamp Collector.  His handiwork wasn't up to Disney's standards, nor even Hanna-Barbera, but his wit…Continue

Carl, Chris, Ian, Lillie, Loren, Mindy, Patricia, Ruth, sk8eycat, Steph, and all my Atheist Nexus friends, thank you so much for your kind words and great support.

I'm off to the garden with a very pretty hat to hear the birds sing their bright songs, and see all the colors of my wildlife refuge.

Thoughts of peace, flourishing of all living things, tranquility, a place of thought and contemplation reside here. No faith in delusions or  prayers to a non-being  found here, only care, compassion, commitment, a community celebration on this patch of Earth.

Ruth, I know several cats who would insist that no human could be "Queen of the Universe"!

But seriously, Joan, you are strong and beautiful, with or without hair, with or without photoshopped tributes!

(And I'll heartily second Ian's recommendation of American Gods.)

Joan Denoo, you're my Queen!

While on holiday I finished reading "American Gods" by Niel Gaiman, which I can recommend. A fantasy/allegory that's very gripping. Also contains a joke:

Q. How can we be sure that the CIA wasn't involved in the Kennedy shooting?

A. He's dead.

Joan, Mussolini never had such a cheerful smile. Depending on the weather, you might want to protect your head. I'm starting to thin out a bit and have become aware of this over the past couple of years.

My cousins Ron and Carolyn from western WA, and Paula from northern Idaho came, full of cheer and stories of their winter adventures. Paula is a breast CA survivor and has been my inspiration through all of this process. We had so much to talk about we didn't get to shaving my head. After they left, Cary did the honors and I must say, those tufts of hair laying in the garden looked quite celebratory.

All in all, it was a very fine day!

Yep! I have a Mussolini head and neck!

I have to go to the hardware store tomorrow, let's see if anyone notices.

My daughter did not lose the hair at the very back of her head so when she wore her cute little caps there were little wisps of hair sticking out.  When her hair came back in, it was very dark whereas she had always been a blonde.  She decided she liked it short and dark.  My niece who had always had straight hair is now a curly top.  Very strange.

Nice one, Melinda.

Senior Skinhead Joan, I salute you. Hope the birds don't take you for granted and start coming round again next year.

Nope! Definitely not a wig! If a bald Joan results, a bald Joan is what the world gets. I wear it as a badge of honor. We have quite a few bald women wandering around Rosauers  grocery store or the hardware store, the only places I care to go. It doesn't take long for hair to grow back, and who knows, it may grow back to my favorite style, white and straight.

Well, I am off to the garden to share my shedding hair with the birds.
