Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

You guys are right, but I have "broken-up" with so many friends in "real-life" over religion. She considers us to be good friends. I feel mean or something that I can't handle friendships with religious people anymore, my tolerance level has gone WAY down. I just wish some friends like that would quietly let the friendships go...

I'd stop if it was no longer an enjoyable evening. I ''out-grew'' a lot of this type of thing years ago, & I just stopped it. You have to live with you, so why bring on headaches you don't need because some ''friend'' wants to preach? Plenty of other things are conversation topics, & religion doesn't have to be it. You're paid up, so you owe nothing financially or otherwise. Drop out, I say, & she can deal with it or not....tough beans!

Booklover,

You don't like drinking, you are an Atheist and your "friend" seems to be not only pushy but boring.

She went on and on about this catholic thing her daughter is going to and how great it is because her daughter will be immersed in Catholicism"

It all appears that you are wasting 4 evenings of your life.  The beers wouldn't give me a headache but she sure would.

Hi Everyone!  I need your opinions.  I went out with a friend for drinks and appetizers last night.  We do this maybe 4 times a year.  This time, I came home and realized I had had no fun.  I had 2 beers, and it gave me a headache.  We just talked about the same stuff that we always do.  She went on and on about this catholic thing her daughter is going to and how great it is because her daughter will be immersed in catholicism (sp?), Ugh.  Her whole life revolves around catholics, because her kids go to catholic schools, etc.  Then she said something about one of the kickers who came out as gay hoping to be drafted into the NFL and that she hopes he is.  So of course that was good, but I said in the bible jesus didn't say anything against homosexuality, and she said yes he did, he said one man and one woman.  I said I don't think the bible said jesus said that, she disagreed, so we dropped it.  She also said she likes Obamacare, but I get the feeling she feels like she's being a good xtian by being tolerant.  I don't know. Then I payed for everything because the last two times we went out, she's payed the majority, plus she drove.  So I came home with a headache, broke, and slightly pissed.  She's a nice lady, etc.  But I'm just over doing that.  I don't enjoy going out 'drinking' (I only have 2 ever), but I don't know how to get out of it.  She's never available any other time except on a weekend night.  Should I just keep doing this a few times a year, and avoid religious talk?  She started it! lol.  She knows I'm an Atheist.  I think she 'tolerates' it.  She is SO brainwashed.  What to do?  Sorry for the long post!

Buddy is a pretty cat, Joseph.

LOL, Napoleon, butt doesn't that comparison put down rear ends. I happen to enjoy the beauty of buns.

Have a great weekend, Folks!

Napoleon, I hope that photo is not copyrighted, because I'm going to use it. It's great!

Look under latest activity or go to my page to view!!  This is when we found Buddy or he found us?  He is bigger now (10 pounds)!  More pictures to come!  I might use a picture as my avatar(of me)! I would like to place my pictures like Steph, but I don't know how!  Can somebody help me out?

Comment by booklover on April 26, 2013 at 3:26pm

Steph, I love that cat in the same pose as the drawing!  How cute. :)

Cool Patricia about your astronaut!

Ruth, it really is disconcerting when you can't see like you usually do!  Now that I've quit wearing contacts, I'm always setting my glasses down and losing them.  Time for a check-up, and I want to get 2 pairs.

It's sunny here, so feeling happy.  Have a good weekend Friends!~ Melinda

Napoleon Bonaparte.  The Evolution of God is great! Thanks for the Dog shows Humanity video too. I could have done without the cigarette ad, though. I think there are many anecdotes of dogs showing “humanity”, empathy and concern.

Joan, your Ramallah concert link gave me an ad.

Good point about how sports can lead to working together, Ian.

Cute LOLcat, Steph. That’s just what we do, live around our cats. Though I do “explain” that the recliner is mine from time to time.

Good luck with finals Megan and Steph.

Patricia, thanks for the astronaut video.

I had a strange day. During breakfast my glasses fell apart. That upset our routine. Got it repaired a couple of hours later. It felt peculiar  to miss reading the news, like walking around with a little hole in my brain all day. At least I could tell it was a lovely sunny day despite the blurring.
