Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Just returned from England so still trying to catch up.

Great to hear that you're keeping chipper, Joan. Good luck with the cell-stomping to you and your team. And yes, you've persuaded me: I've started a round of "given up smoking" check-ups to see if there's any permanent damage or latent consequences.

Things in England were a bit mixed. My step-Mum is still in hospital after her COPD attack but has been moved to a physio unit and is just starting to make some progress. She managed to stand up yesterday, with support, for the first time in 12 weeks. Me and a step-sis were there to cheer her on and that seemed to help, plus I told her that the sooner she gets back on her feet, the sooner she can use the WC instead of a pot, which is a great motivator for here.

Visited my Mum in her care home. The first time I was there she was fairly lucid and only a bit doolally but the second time she was miles away and kept falling asleep. Later that day the home rang and said that they were getting a doctor to see her as she wasn't even able to stand up any more. I have a suspicion that her repeated urinary tract infections have become chronic and may have spread further around the pelvic/kidney region.

Apart from that, it was great to see family. Went to a country show with my brother and his family: saw old-fashioned steam and vintage tractors, wood-turning, a falconry show, various dog and horse events plus ate venison sausage rolls and home-made jam sponge. We even bought hats! I'm the one with the tea mug.

Flying Atheist I use the mobile version on the site with my iPhone - scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "switch to mobile optimized version" that should work for you.

Those are cute pics Ruth. Flying Atheist is right. As it stands now the newest comments are on page 717. Maybe they can alter this format.

My email Ruth has your latest comment Ruth and then I come to the page and it looks like the oldest comments are listed first. I wonder if it can be changed to show newest comments first?

I need a little help if anyone can oblige.  I just entered the 21st Century and got an Android smart phone.  How do I get the mobile version of AtheistNexus?  Please excuse my ignorance.  :)

Ruth, if you scroll down to the bottom of the group's page to the page numbers, page number one is now the oldest entry and the highest numbered page is the most recent.  (It's the reverse of what it was.)  Hopefully these little quirks are in the process of still being worked out.  Such as:  when I click on the link in my email notification for the most recent comment, it takes me to the oldest page.  Also, you'll see that all of our personal "profile information" boxes and our groups are missing from our individual pages.
