Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

This photo essay shows the remarkable benefits of replacing a secular government with a religious one. The fate of Egypt is quite an endorsement for the superior morality of religious rule.I was a bit surprised by the extent to which the temporary…Continue

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on August 25, 2012 at 1:46pm Thanks for a sample of your teapots, Ian. As a teacup collector, this stimulates fantasies of drinking tea every morning from a different unique pot. I had Blue Willow dinnerware once, now everything's broken but the big platter. The whimsical boat pot would be perfect for a sick day.

Comment by Patricia on August 25, 2012 at 1:33pm Mr. moron Mitt, should learn to keep his yap shut. Being an invited guest for the British Olympics, he couldn't shut up before offending.....idiot!
Comment by Patricia on August 25, 2012 at 1:23pm Great teapots Ian......gorgeous!!! Thanks for these.....I was one who asked for photos. Those novelty ones are a hoot!!!
Ian, those are tea-riffic! Thanks for the glimpse at your collection.
And Steph, Patricia, and sk8eycat, you're so right about emotional vampires!
(This should stay on the front page of the comments for a few more minutes. :-)
... right on about true friendships and moving on from toxic "friends". If they make you feel bad and mentally exhausted all the time ... it's time to let them go (dump them).
Comment by The Flying Atheist on August 25, 2012 at 12:00pm Thanks Grinning Cat. I have to admit, that puts his comment into perspective. Damn the media and their out-of-context soundbites! But there's still a problem with his statement and the implication that our current president is somehow not a U.S. citizen. Romney is just fueling the fire of "birthers" and being reckless in his statements. He may be a very rich man but he's not a very smart person.
Ruth, I found a bit of context in a video clip at TPM. It turns out that Mitt Romney was talking about himself and his wife:
"How I love being home, in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born. Ann was born at Henry Ford Hospital; I was born at Harper Hospital. No one's ever asked to see my birth certificate; they know that this is the place that we were born and raised."
To which Cher tweeted that he was enjoying white privilege:
lip bitting over! Mitt Romney "NO ONES EVER ASKED 2 SEE MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE" Ya No Why FOOL? U make "WONDER BREAD LOOK DARK & MYSTERIOUS"
Comment by Ian Mason on August 25, 2012 at 11:08am Great pic, Steph. Thanks for the friendly remarks, all.
Comment by Lillie on August 25, 2012 at 10:34am Love the teapots especially the one with the roses and gold rim. Thanks for sharing. Would love to see collections of others.
