Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

If you read the "Crank Mail" section in Freethought Today, you'll see that they're still breeding and passing the hate along to their children. I wonder if there's a gene for that. One that could be snipped off chromosomes before meiosis...
You 'd have thought that sort died out by now...

An attendee at the Republican National Convention was allegedly thrown out of the convention center in Tampa on Tuesday after throwing nuts at a black CNN camerawoman and saying, "this is how we feed the animals."

Thanks, Joan, that derivation of "politics" is my favorite pseudoetymology. ("It really bugs me when I can't remember the entomology of a word.")
"Goodness gracious" and "Agnus Dei" reminded me of the Monk's Aria from P.D.Q. Bach's Hansel and Gretel and Ted and Alice:

Agnus and her sister Doris Dei;

Comment by Ian Mason on August 28, 2012 at 11:39pm It also appears as gracious sakes alive and goodness gracious, Agnes, the latter partly drawn from the Latin words in the Mass, Agnus Dei . . . miserere nobis, ''lamb of God . . . have mercy on us,'' referring in that case to Jesus as sacrificial lamb

Bill Nye gives a heartfelt plea to parents to believe what they will, but do not saddle children with false belief in a 6,000 year old Earth, denying reality of infinite time and space, and deluding them to believe in things that have not been supported by evidence. The world needs children growing up with a clear understanding of facts of mathematics and science and eschew fables and myths told for generations as true.
Comment by Joan Denoo on August 28, 2012 at 10:06pm booklover, I couldn't find the whole quote of "Goodness Gracious Godness Agnes!"
The "To market" one was in nursery rhyme books I read to my kids when they were small.
