Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Don't envy your husband at all Melinda!!!

My youngest son is the same way with honesty & can't stand being accused of not being so. He eventually walked off a job when it happened just one too many times. He was not going to stand for it anymore, he's never been without work either.

Love the cats Carl and Patricia! It was almost 100 degrees here today! I went swimming at a friends house, and she had a few other ladies over. It was nice! My poor husband was totally wiped out after work. You can actually see the dried salt from sweating on his uniform. Ugh. My daughter's rich boss and his wife blame their employees for everything. A waitress left her purse out and open. My daughter is the hostess at their upper- end restaurant. First they accused my daughter of it being her purse, then asked her why she Let the waitress put her purse where it shouldn't have been. Also someone put a laptop on one of the tables. It left a scratch. They asked my daughter why she scratched the table. WHAT?!?! People are jerks! And she hasn't even been there a month yet! Her boss told not to worry, they accuse everybody of everything. My daughter prides herself on her honesty, and she was really insulted when they act like she's a liar. My husband told her that's just life, you've got to play the game. Well the game sucks!!!!!

Cute stuff everyone is putting up!

Ruth, I was happy about that news also!

Felaine, we had a tree on city property grow it's roots into our sewer-line.  Yep, it backed-up into our basement.  DISGUSTING.  We had to have a company come do a total clean-up that including cutting away part of our drywall.  Then we had to pay for new flooring, etc.  Luckily it wasn't the entire basement.  The city wouldn't pay of course. Every other year now we have to have a company called Roto-Rooter go down the drain all the way to the end of the driveway drilling out roots, or however that works!

re: Destructive Trees...Liquid Amber

They have very shallow roots, and if they are near a sidewalk or patio, they push the concrete up at the joins, and trip people.  Their seed pods are big and prickly, too.

My friend Sue had one planted in her parkway by the City of Los Angeles. (Parkways and sidewalks are City property). When it did become dangerous, and she wanted it removed, the City told her SHE had to pay for it!  Where is the logic in that?

She finally got fed up and did pay to have it cut down, and the root system dug up.  The City "very generously" put in a new level sidewalk.

A long time ago we had Catalina Cherry trees in the parkways in our neighborhood.  They were always messy; the "cherries" were inedible, mostly seed (about the size of the large marbles gamers use to "shoot" smaller marbles out of the circle), attracted wasps and other stinging insects.  Feh.  They finally developed big galls and started looking raggedy all over, so THIS city removed them, and gave us a choice of replacement trees or no trees.

I am SO glad I live in Beautiful Downtown Burbank, even if they finally did let Walphart open a store here this year. (We've been fighting that sleazy, money-grubbing outfit for ages.)

Not everyone in here is a grandparent, and I'M not even a parent (at least not a "people parent"), but this is so sweet I just had to post it for everyone:

Happy Grand Pawrents Day
