Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Well, it's that time of year again.  Time to gird our loins, put on our battle armor and join the (dah-dah DAAAAAH!) WAR AGAINST CHRISTMAS!!! [groan!] Yeah, most of us have heard that crap before, probably too many times, in fact, how atheists are…Continue

Seth Andrews - The Copycats: How Christianity Steals The Best Ideas

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller on Wednesday. 11 Replies

Many of us have observed or learned how christianity shamelessly borrows from other sources to bolster its position and show off its supposed wonderfulness.  Well, Seth Andrews of The Thinking Atheist podcast has compiled some of the more modern-day…Continue

Finding Your Roots

I've been into genealogy for a long time. It's fun, especially with internet help, but increasingly frustrating. You see, I've hit "brick walls". And being a Smith doesn't make research any easier.Wouldn't you think I could find the death date and…Continue

I'm not a news hound by any stretch, but I do like to stay informed about what's going on in the world. (I despise "local" news with all the reports of murders, robberies, fires, etc.)The national "evening" news shows really irritate me. I hate…Continue

Scared, not scarred:)

Before I shut the computer off for the evening, I want to mention that if one of these days I don't respond or post anything, it's my 6.5 year old computer gone wonky.

It's being left behind because it's software is outdated and will not run the new stuff.  A couple of days ago it refused to load my e-mail until I told it to load basic HTML.  That works, but this morning it scarred me by refusing to do anything until I rebooted.

On a positive note, I finally found an ISP that works reasonably well, and only charges an arm.  Left my leg alone.

As to gold crowns, both my mother and father were cremated and the crematorium gave me an envelope with their gold crowns in them. I knew how many each had, and I was not short changed.

By the way Grinning, I have a cheap electronic bug detector and it used to give an indication that my now dead pie cherry tree was giving off a signal.

OK G Cat.  You're on the list!

lol about the gold crowns Spud~ :)

I know Grinning Cat, it is too bad those darn trees only produce oxygen! ;)

And Spud, count me in for meeting face-to-face!

Loren, that's a keeper (why churches don't have Wifi) !!

Somewhat related: (from Cheezburger)

Imagine if trees gave off Wifi signals, we would be planting so many trees and we'd probably save the planet too. Too bad they only produce the oxygen we breathe.

Haha!  "Yank those gold crowns" is what I told my brother, and he said he would do it.

I've got 3 in my mouth and one that was replaced that I'm saving. It's strange that they don't recycle them.  They must be worth something.  They have gold, silver and a few other metals in them.

I would have my hand up for a visit Spud. :)

Cool you found a non-religious doctor.  My dentist and his whole staff are SO religious and right-wing.  I've been seeing him since I was 17.  I'm 46.  Maybe time to find a new one!  Glad you escaped a big bill!!!  Mentioning your gold crown reminded me of a friend I used to have whose husband told her that if he ever died at home, get a pliers and pry off the gold crown before calling the authorities, so she could sell it and get some money for it! lol.  I have a gold crown also.
