Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Mindy I the car problem is solved without too much expense. Sorry to learn of your son's strep throat; hope his diabetes strategy stays under control. My favorite of all stories, The Wizard of OZ. Sharing cartoon.

Ian, Ah ha! The pope is caught in a dilemma: Does the pope forgive the priest or the homosexuality? Seems to me a little reality check is in order. A priest is a construct of the human mind. A homosexual is a reality of hormones and whatever else is involved in creating mammalian sexuality and has nothing for which to be forgiven.

Steph, cute photo of resistant kitty and lovely young woman.

Napoleon, is this a correct translation: "one does not become an atheist by desire"?

Steph, Whistleblower Cat!?

I have to add my two cents as well. I like the Oz picture and also the Jesus walking on water, Mindy. Funny stuff, as Johnny Carson used to say.
I hope your son recovers quickly. Sounds like he's being well cared for.

I had the Lumbar Laminectomy....which is why I called my scooter ''MY LUMBARGHINI''.

I think you're right Felaine.

Spud, I don't think much has changed in Flaw-riduh since the '80s....in fact it's gotten worse IMO.  That goes for all of the buybull belt.  The adults are afraid their children might learn something, or figure things out for themselves.

Mindy, I love the Oz images!

Felaine, what horrible '80s school officials in Florida!

Steph, that NFA cat is funny.

I had a "senior moment" there.  The author who tried to buy the "Oz" books was Piers Anthony.  I had to Google his name by entering the title of one of his books.  How bass-ackward is that?

(That's the kind of thing that happens when I can't remember something...I had back surgery in '09, and I can never remember the first word of the procedure, so I have to think "...and fusion," and then the word "laminectomy" magically appears in what's left of my mind.)

Mindy, first, I hope your son is getting better, and second...

I think those two images from "The Wizard of Oz" are exactly what L. Frank Baum was trying to tell his readers.  And why, back in the early '80s a school district in Florida pulled all the "Oz" books out of their libraries...and BURNED them!  A science fiction/fantasy author who lived in Florida at the time offered a considerable amount of money to buy the books, and was turned down. (Some of them were very valuable first editions.)

Stupid, stupid, stupid.  At the very least ANY school district always needs money, but NOHHHHH!  They had to make sure they destroyed the "satanic" influence in their area.

Thanks Chris!  My daughter got home at about 2 a.m., and then washed her hands and went downstairs to my son's room to take care or her brother, lol.  It's funny, she's turned into a little mother with him.  She takes his temperature, gives him meds, makes sure he is drinking lots of water.. it's sweet to see.
