Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Science, Atheism & the Joyful Life -- by Sean Faircloth, Richard Dawkins Foundation

Some speeches by atheists are factual and practical, dealing with the nuts and bolts of reality.  Some are diatribes against the superstitions we seek to overcome, pointing out the man behind the curtain and the fallacies and snake oil he tries to…Continue

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller Apr 8. 0 Replies

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

When I'm arguing that Jesus was/is a myth, I often compare him to William Tell.  You'd be surprised at how many people don't know that WT is fictional.  I sometimes toss in Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, too....

About Divergent Mary...maybe the Holey Ghost used a turkey baster????

I compared their god to Little Red Ridinghood once. Was a rather nice way to end a ´friendship´.

I wish I had the nerve to put that on my Facebook page! I did put something up though that a friend, who is an Atheist and goes to UU church, put up. It was comparing god to Santa Claus. Most people probably won't even bother to read it!

Sorry to hear about your electricity problem sk8eycat. I'm glad yo got it back on.

Funniest Virgin Mary ever, Flying Atheist. I read recently that 1% of US pregnancies are claimed by the mother to be virgin births.

I'm sorry you had to go through that Felaine.  I'm glad you got it turned back on!  Cool interactive card!

Carl, that pic of Mary is funny! :)

Joan thanks for "Let's Dance."

My Mom is coming over for a few hours today.  I am so glad xmas is done!  My in-laws gave my husband and I some money which we are going to use to pay a bill!  Not very exciting, but there is no "thing" that we want!  Not having a bill makes us happier!  My kids got lots of gift cards for gas and food, and got cash and clothes also, so they are SET!  I'm just going to relax today and maybe do a little cleaning.  My husband, who works mostly outdoors, does not sound good with his coughing.  I really hope it doesn't turn into bronchitis!  He works 2 more days, and then has a week off.  Tomorrow is going to be a horrible day at work for him just because of the volume of stuff.  He probably won't get home until way after dinner.  Poor guy!  He has a hard job! I hope you all get to just chill today, and then there are only 2 work days left in the week!~ Mindy
