Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Melinda it sounds like you had a nice trip. I am glad you have an Atheist friend to spend your time with.

Welcome home Mindy! So very happy to read of your adventures, rest and renewal. Can you describe some of your taste treats? Food seems to be foreground for me now.

What is foreground and background?

"Positive space refers to what the eye perceives as in the foreground. Negative space is what the eye perceives as in the background (for example as sky). Notice that negative space does not necessarily have to be white. As you are seeing, good designs often use more than one visual design cue at the same time. In addition to rhythm, this drawing of Maurice Escher skillfully plays with your perception of what is the foreground and what is the background."

Well, for me, food is foreground.

Hi Friends!  Just got back today from Stone Lake with my (Atheist!) friend.  Gorgeous weather, ate at some cute restaurants in Hayward, Wisconsin.  Coming home one evening a bear crossed the road in front of us!  Also while we were sitting on the dock watching the fish jump, a Bald Eagle was flying overhead also watching them!  So neat to see!  Got to relax in nature. Ahhh.  Still, I'm always glad to be home.

I can't even begin to catch-up on here, so I hope you are all well, and I'm glad to be back online here with my AN friends! Hugs, Mindy

Good morning everyone, it is 11:30 AM and 51 degrees F, with heavy rain. Cold, wet wind, and a very nice warm room to  read, write, and nap.

Yesterday was Chemo Light and took only about 1 1/2 hours to drip all that killer poison into my body. Laura and her husband, Larry, took me out for the fish soup afterwards and it is so good at Gordy’s Sichuan Cafe. It is the only thing that tastes good, is full of the right kinds of nutrition, and Gordy and Jamie, help me select what I can and can't eat. They also help me with figuring out how to use different ingredients, such as coconut and cooking time for the fish.

Jamie, Gordy's co-owner, thanks so much.

Felaine, the "holy" books are the world's most dangerous enablers for those with a tendency to violence and fanaticism.

Yet another non-sequitur:

"The London Sun newspaper has apologised to aliens for linking them with the Church of Scientology."

I pick up bottles/cans when I go out, & we always left our camp grounds as if we'd never been there.
