Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Joan, that's a viscious looking weapon you've got there. Hope your body starts to right itself soon.

I'd heard the same about pyramid workers too but there was also something that came up recently on how many Egyptians PAID to become temple servants in order to "escape the draft" when pharoah needed labour on a big project. There weren't any health and safety laws in those days and, even though the workers were respected, well-paid and well-fed, their lives were notoriously short and could end painfully. Sounds a bit like oilrig workers or deep-sea fishermen in our time: super macho with a high mortality/ injury rate.

I know how it is Melinda......our family (atheist) Dr. is leaving us at the end of this month so we have to start with another one almost right away. With our issues, we can't be doctor-less, so we've signed up with one of his recommends starting June 1st.

Yeah Joan....chemo is a 'real thrill'......but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

We've been getting quite a few science type tv shows & we tend to devour most of them. Most other programming is crap, in my eyes anyway.

We're very stormy here with lots of electrical goings on as well, so I think it's all over the place.

Mindy, sorry about your retiring Gastro; have you met his replacement?

We continue to have rain as well; it feels like living on the Seattle side of the state. Everything, weeds and all, grow like a jungle. I don't have my machete arms yet.

Looking forward to seeing the colors your husband paints.

Cat scan is great ... a keeper. I'll put it in my file. I have so many damned chemicals in my body, I feel like a Chinese herbal packer. I feel awful. The only things that get my mind off this old body is reading and writing on Atheist Nexus, and watching science videos. Thus, you good folks get to tag along with me on my little jaunts through time and space.

My computer loads the videos for about a minute, stops, waits and then loads another minute. I talked to Com Cast today and guess I will live with it, or pay more for more whatever it is they call it. Right now, I am on the cheapest program I can get. Get what I pay for ...!!!!

Cary fixed me the most delicious scrambled eggs I have ever had! Oh yes, there are pleasures, still.

Hi Friends!  Went to the Gastro in Madison today and was disappointed to learn he is retiring.  It scares me a little, since I have only felt well since becoming his patient about 4 years ago.  I'm sure he will train his replacement well though.  I was so surprised to learn that he is 80!

Steph, I love the Spock quote.  Interesting about the Pyramids Joan!

Hubby is on vacation this week, and we had planned to work outside, but Mother Nature has her own plans!  He is going to paint 2 of the walls in our upstairs living/dining area an accent color.  I hate painting!

This afternoon the kids and I saw The Hangover 3.  It was okay.  I laughed a few times.

There is thunder and lightning right now.  I like it!  Have a good evening everyone!~ MindyI thought of you getting a CT scan when I saw this Joan!  I hope you are feeling well!  Many Hugs!

Egypt: New Find Shows Slaves Didn't Build Pyramids

Egyptians, not Jews, built pyramids, in spite of what religious claim. The Egyptian builders were honored trades people, given honorable burial beside the pyramids and burial tombs of pharaohs.

In re: The Unbelievers, I put up a blurb about it in Atheist Cinema.
