Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

It seems as though some numb-nuts New York pastor by the name of Stephen Kim has written two marriage advice pieces for christian men and women.  Not surprisingly, his suggestions come straight out of his never-fail magic book.  Seth Andrews of The…Continue

Well, it's that time of year again.  Time to gird our loins, put on our battle armor and join the (dah-dah DAAAAAH!) WAR AGAINST CHRISTMAS!!! [groan!] Yeah, most of us have heard that crap before, probably too many times, in fact, how atheists are…Continue

Seth Andrews - The Copycats: How Christianity Steals The Best Ideas

Many of us have observed or learned how christianity shamelessly borrows from other sources to bolster its position and show off its supposed wonderfulness.  Well, Seth Andrews of The Thinking Atheist podcast has compiled some of the more modern-day…Continue

Sorry to hear of your loss, Felaine. It's good that your aunt knew that she was loved.

Mindy, if I haven't said this before: for people with depression family and friends are like a lighthouse that can give guidance and hope in the stormy night. I'm sure you are doing a grand job in getting your daughter home to a safe harbour again. Shine on!

I saw that on FB too Loren!  I love Mark Twain.  Such a true saying!

Joan, I'm glad you had a good therapist.  My daughter did too, but the therapist left doing therapy to take a different kind of job. :(  My daughter is up early this a.m., going to meet a friend who is an art teacher, and they are going to the school where her friend teaches and hanging a bunch of art.  I'm glad she has something to get up and do, and hang-out with a friend she rarely sees.

Cute cat Steph and thanks for the hugs as always my sweet friend! :)

Have a good weekend everyone!~ Mindy

Thanks Loren, Mark Twain does have a way with ideas!

Mindy, I wish your daughter had a therapist such as I at Cancer Care Northwest. She has some kind of insight that gets to the underlying issues of distress. Everyone I talk to at CCNW, staff and patients, marvels at her great skills. Thinking about you.

Thanks Everyone, I am lucky to have such wonderful friends!  She stayed-over at her best friends house last night.  I am not looking forward to today!  Carl, you actually aren't a TOTAL stranger from the internet to her, because I'm always telling my family about different things my best friends here say and do.  Now when I say something about one of you, sometimes they will say, "Oh, your friend from Chicago?", or "Oh, the one who lives in Texas?", etc. lol.

Joan, she is on 2 different meds, and is going to see a therapist on Monday.  She's tried MANY different meds, and they either don't work, or work for only a short time.  I'm lucky MY meds work!!!  I am very concerned about her depression though because she was depressed this week BEFORE the boyfriend and job loss!

Virtual hugs and support are great!  I'm so glad we all have each other on here! <3

Mindy, so very sorry to learn of your daughter's challenges. You are a great mom and provide the safety she needs, and we are here to provide you emotional support, even if we can only give virtual hugs and lots of encouragement. Be sure to take good care of yourself. You are the strong dock she needs as she figures out life' storms. The depression worries me, as I know it does you. With clinical depression, she may need Rx. And of course you already know that.
