Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Ruth, love the duck being vacuumed!

I had forgotten about The Gong Show!  Wow!  Blast from the past!  I also felt bad for the ones who actually thought they were good!

My husband is home from Indy safe and sound.  He's worrying because our ins. cut how many blood-test strips our type 1 son can have (that they'll pay for.)  We will just have to pay out-of-pocket.  We are certainly not going to have him test less, and have not as good control of his blood-sugar!  It's always something!!!

Oh, Felaine, at first I thought you said you loved the gong show, but then I saw you hated it.  Even though I loved it, I did feel sorry for some of the dummies that didn't know they were bad.

Well, everyone has different tastes.  I wasn't going to say it, but after you said you hated the gong show, I hope you don't mind me saying I hated Bob Hope.

I can't stand egotists, and he stuck me as a big one.  Seems like every time he made a "joke", he would stop, give the audience a sideways look that to me looked like he was saying "OK, I'm waiting for you to recognize me as the funniest human ever, and start laughing."

Thanks for the reminder FA.  I loved the gong show and Gene Gene, the Dancing Machine.  Great fun!

Oh, I LOL'd at the awful comedian with the paper bag over his head, too.

I hated The gong Show...except for Gene Gene, and one other act. I can't remember his name, but he was the switchboard operator at KCET when I worked there.  Funny as *bleep!*  He did some kind of torch song in drag, and got gonged, but he didn't care; he wanted to be gonged. He knew he was supposed to be awful.

What I hated about the show were the performers who didn't know they were awful, and the expressions on their faces when somebody hit the gong were pitiful.

Chuck Barris had a sick sense of humor; he loved to humiliate people. He produced another "game" show that featured male executives with their (female) secretaries and their wives. The object was to see which woman knew the most about the man.  It bombed.

Great dance clips.  Sorry to offend, but I just had to share this dance icon.

To change the subject, you might enjoy duck vacuuming.
