Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Arp, I believe you about not reading mainstream news. I have no TV, no papers or magazines delivered. I found that reporters do not get to the meat of issues and have become propaganda pieces to maintain and perpetuate the status quo.

I do subscribe to many newsletters of interest to me and to some with which I do not agree. I like to keep up on the nonsense being pumped out on the internet, just so I can stay informed.

This group of fine folks on AN are getting me to lighten up a bit and I read more of the funny stuff. I'm learning!

I'm often sad thinking of the children in my siblings families and their children's children.  They all continue to drink the mormon cook-aid in great quantities, wasting a lot of time as well as more than 10% of their gross income.

The worst family is my son-in-law's.  They are almost as bad as the Duggar family.

They have religious pictures almost covering their walls, the children are restricted from playing with anyone except a very few that are as fundamentalist as they are, they are home-schooled, TV shows and movies are restricted to a very few G-rated ones, and they are taught to be greatly paranoid about sex.

Good news at the Orthopedist for my son? They can find nothing wrong that is causing the pain and swelling,so no surgery unless HE ever feels like it's getting worse or he can't stand it. He does NOT want the surgery now, and says he will take Aleve and use ice- packs. He's almost 20, so his decision.

My ''mother'' had me, & then 9 miscarriages. I was pretty much treated indifferently unless I did something wrong, then I got that famous razor strap. Seems I should have had more attention with knowing she was not able to have the large family she wanted. Good thing anyway or I would have been saddled with them all as I was when they adopted my ''brother''. I rebelled one time & asked her point blank ''just WHO adopted this kid anyway, them or me?'' I was 8. I was also the ''housekeeper'' because she was out working as dear ol' dad was usually not. To this day, I hate housework.

Neither was I ever going to wear those damned under garments the morons use!!!

That family sounds like the way fundamentalist morons are conducting themselves .....what a life!!! NOT!!!!

Felaine, I've never heard of the Duggar family cult before.  The way those children are raised is very sad.

I read something the other day about the Duggar family cult (Gothardism, or something); it's much worse than I ever imagined.  They might as well put both the girls and the boys in burkas for the rest of their lives....

I feel profoundly sorry for those children.

As an EX moron, I took one look at a family who'd just had baby number 17....& I freaked. No bloody way I was ever doing that!!!! I was about 15, & was already in the throes of tossing the whole church thing.
