Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I think I've bought paperbacks from Better World through eBay's Half.com.  Are they in Washington state?  (Many of the used books I've bought have had Seattle or Tacoma public library stamps all over them...I don't mind that, as long as the books are readable.  I don't have a fetish about brand new books.

I discovered this site for used books & free shipping. They are also part of EBATES.

http://www.betterworldbooks.com/

They contribute to literacy & libraries, & accept donated books etc. I got my first shipment today of 4 books, & thought I'd pass this along.

Cute pic of Leno with cat, thanks sk8eycat.

What a patient cat, Napoleon.

Felaine, that's such a great story!!!  How awesome!  I really like Jay Leno.  He was very gracious about stepping-down and saying that Jimmy Fallon was the right guy to take the show next.  Jimmy Fallon is also known as a really nice person.  I hope he likes cats!!!

Napoleon, that video is GREAT! How cute!  The puppy doesn't even look real, and the look on the cat's face is priceless! lol.

Puppy & Cat

We saw Leno around Burbank quite a bit...especially at a little Italian take-out place up the street from the Cat Hotel.  They made their own pasta; the lasagna noodles were like silk.

I also saw him a couple of times when he led the motorcycle Love Ride through town...that was amazing!  Imagine being surrounded by hundreds of happy people on big rumbling Harleys; it was like being in the middle of a harmless earthquake, or a continuous thunderstorm.  (This happened on Sunday mornings when I was driving home from my shift at the Hotel.  I always thought it was a MUCH better activity for adults than sitting in a church somewhere.  It's fun for everyone, and they raise money for MDA and other charities.)

I miss watching Jay Leno also.  I liked him as much or more than Johnny Carson.  Why did they fire Jay when he was at the peak of his popularity?

I've not watched Jimmy Fallon yet since he took Jay's spot.  I watched him a few times when he had the other show, and he didn't do anything for me.

In BC here, Jay Leno has the reputation of being one of the nicest people in show business!

As for his kitty, I thought his love for cats clearly radiated on his show. He loved all the big kitty guests!

I miss Jay Leno...I met him a few times when I was working nights at the Cat Hotel (before the end of 2005).  He was just a nice guy when he was being himself, and loved his elderly cat, Cheeseler, with all his heart.  That wins BIG points with me!

The first time he called to say he was picking her up, I went crazy looking for her carrier...finally called the Hotel owner to ask where it was stored, and she said he didn't use one.  I said something intelligent like "hunh?"  she just said, "You'll see."

So, while I was running his credit card and printiing out the invoice, Mr. Leno went back to Cheeseler's condo, gently picked her up, kissed her,and then buttoned her inside his shirt so that just her head was poking out.  She was purring so that you could see her little old body vibrating through the fabric.  True love and trust, IMO.

Thanks Grinning and Felaine. :)

Carl, sounds like a great night out!  So cool you got to see Johnny Carson do The Tonight Show!

Loren, I love Jimmy Fallon!  And the Muppets! Thanks for the clip, it was great!

Patricia, I'll have to tell that joke since I have a Labradork! :)
