Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

In BC here, Jay Leno has the reputation of being one of the nicest people in show business!

As for his kitty, I thought his love for cats clearly radiated on his show. He loved all the big kitty guests!

I miss Jay Leno...I met him a few times when I was working nights at the Cat Hotel (before the end of 2005).  He was just a nice guy when he was being himself, and loved his elderly cat, Cheeseler, with all his heart.  That wins BIG points with me!

The first time he called to say he was picking her up, I went crazy looking for her carrier...finally called the Hotel owner to ask where it was stored, and she said he didn't use one.  I said something intelligent like "hunh?"  she just said, "You'll see."

So, while I was running his credit card and printiing out the invoice, Mr. Leno went back to Cheeseler's condo, gently picked her up, kissed her,and then buttoned her inside his shirt so that just her head was poking out.  She was purring so that you could see her little old body vibrating through the fabric.  True love and trust, IMO.

Thanks Grinning and Felaine. :)

Carl, sounds like a great night out!  So cool you got to see Johnny Carson do The Tonight Show!

Loren, I love Jimmy Fallon!  And the Muppets! Thanks for the clip, it was great!

Patricia, I'll have to tell that joke since I have a Labradork! :)

Hi, Mindy.  I'm doing well, thank you.  Was out tonight for some wine and dinner with my best friend.  I had a delicious hamburger topped with American cheese, grilled onions and BBQ pulled pork on a pretzel roll.  Carrot cake for desert.  Very nice!

Loren, that's a great clip of the Muppets.  What a great cast of characters.  I was a big fan of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson but strayed away when Jay Leno came on board.  I've heard that Jimmy Fallon is getting good reviews and that the show is now, once again, filmed in New York.  I happened to see a clip earlier today of his first Tonight Show and his guest Jerry Seinfeld.  It was funny and fun to watch.  I'm happy for Jimmy Fallon, he has a good personality.

One of my favorite memories from a trip to California back in 1988 was being in the audience for a taping of The Tonight Show.  That was such a great day.  Johnny Carson was a class act.  And you just couldn't get any better than Doc and the band.

Oh, my! I DO empathize with your son!  I know only too well that an excess of fluid in ANY joint can be extremely painful (as I sit here waiting for the gout in my feets to go away.  There's no quick treatment for that.  I just hobble from one room to another...my walker doesn't help much, so I just hang clothes on it....)

Hoping all of us are much better soon, and ready when spring rolls around.

Comment by Grinning Cat on February 20, 2014 at 5:18pm

Mindy, I hope your son will quickly find an end to the pain, with his knee staying fully functional!

(Years ago I had my own minor scare with a resonance in one ear, where the doctors didn't know why it happened, and the ENT would have tried cortisone if it didn't go away on its own. Fortunately, it did and stayed fine.)

Comment by booklover on February 20, 2014 at 4:59pm

Thanks Carl!  :)  I hope you are fine too!!!

Comment by The Flying Atheist on February 20, 2014 at 4:47pm

Good news for your son, Mindy.  Hopefully draining the fluid and the cortisone shot will be the end of it.  Sometimes weird things just happen to us.  I hope YOU are doing well also.  :)
