Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Some speeches by atheists are factual and practical, dealing with the nuts and bolts of reality.  Some are diatribes against the superstitions we seek to overcome, pointing out the man behind the curtain and the fallacies and snake oil he tries to…Continue

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller Apr 8. 0 Replies

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

Le Tueur de la saint Valentin

Loren, your wife is a jewel! What a wonderful gift! What all does that timepiece do? I don't suppose they manufacture such a timepiece that is affordable? Well, I love things that measure. And I guess you do too.

Give your wife a big hug from me and tell her I think she is a most caring woman I know ...  partly because you love her so much, she must be a very special.

I've never celebrated valentines day either.

Diamonds is one of my pet peeves.  The companies that control them only let a few on the market at a time to keep the price high.  At least they did in the past.  Don't know about today.

Plus, I just don't see the attraction.  I find colored glass "gems" far more beautiful.

I always thought valentines, halloween, etc., were a kid thing to be eventually ''outgrown''.

Needless to say, advertising to sell things to make more, & more, & more money has changed all that.

Here Chris, they want you to buy candy, flowers.........& DIAMONDS!!!!

A nice gift Loren!!

Do you all celebrate Valentine's day? I never did - I felt that it was a florists' trick to boost sales. To be honest, I think that of all feasts and celebrations.

She sounds very unique. Very independent. That is so cool Mindy.

My daughter got a THIRD bouquet of roses delivered from the handsome medical student who wants to date her. She has been friends with him since middle school, but this was unexpected. She is NOat thrilled. She likes being alone, except her cat:), and doing artwork. She doesn't want a boyfriend who is always in her space. Funny girl, lots of women would be flattered. Not my strong, independent daughter. Some people complain about not having a Valentine. My daughter is irritated to have one. Lol
