Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Some speeches by atheists are factual and practical, dealing with the nuts and bolts of reality.  Some are diatribes against the superstitions we seek to overcome, pointing out the man behind the curtain and the fallacies and snake oil he tries to…Continue

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

Booklover, that Salvdor Dali Coffee is fantastic!
Thanks for the information about The CAriboo & The Chilcotins, Patricia. It sounds huge and beautiful, and clean.
Sorry about rampant greed Friday getting you down, sk8eycat.

We just ignore the whole hyperconsumerist mess. This holiday my combined birthday/Humanlight gift will be a donation to 350.org.
Thanks for the cheery comic strip, Ian.

Yep, Greed Friday, and now it's Cyber-Monday!  Not buying anything Friday or today!  My husband will be very busy at work through the end of the year.  He's not looking forward to it, but the paychecks are great!  My daughter has a 2nd interview today.  I REALLY hope she gets it of course! Have a good week everyone. :)

I need to rant:

Greed Friday (actually, it's  5 Greedy Days) has taken the little remaining pleasure out of the Harvest Holiday.

I has a sad.

Ruth,

The middle of BC is called ''The Cariboo'', & ''The Chilcotins''. We have lots of forestry, ranching, lakes/rivers, & wildlife here. The southern part of the province is The Lower Mainland at the coastal side, & eastern is the Interior with lakes & resorts with desert type climate. Northern BC is just Northern BC. This province is quite large, & driving from Vancouver to the northern border will take almost 24 hours as far as I understand. Fort St. John is as far north as I've been.
