Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

So, I guess most of you here know that my dad died back in January of complications of Parkinson's disease. There have been times that have been rough since then, but I'd think it's all part of the process, so to speak.Today was Remembrance Sunday…Continue

Comment by Patricia on March 20, 2013 at 7:22pm Almost everything is covered here. Cosmetic surgery, unless warranted for health reasons, is not covered, but.....I can get cosmetic surgery if I choose to (which I don't), if it involves reconstruction of my right breast, or implant....any of that. As it was, I had 3 lb. breast reduction in 2000 because they were interfering with my upper body. Then after the mastectomy, I had another reduction in 2006 on my left breast which was another pound & a half. Reconstruction.....not a chance!!!! Damn thing already betrayed me once!!!

Comment by Joan Denoo on March 20, 2013 at 6:59pm TFA, please stay on your soapbox. Obviously we aren't getting adequate care, whether privately or through our employer. The evidence is all in and there is no doubt about it, our medical care system is broken. And no one knows that better than the wonderful doctors on my team.
Comment by sk8eycat on March 20, 2013 at 6:48pm PS: I have to take Hairy Jerry to the vet tomorrow, and I'm scared. He has a large growth/lump on his jaw, he's old, frail, and I don't think I'm going to like what I'm going to hear. ("Nature Advocate" would probably be delighted. I am so sorry I posted that article in Ailurophiles! That one person's response was the most vicious, mean-spirited thing I've read since the buybull.)
Comment by sk8eycat on March 20, 2013 at 6:43pm Ruth...1) the dog was "mooning" the camera 2) "Moondoggie" was the name of the character played by James Darren in the first "Gidget" movie. (1959)
(Or I could say that Moondoggie was the nickname of the boy Francie/Gidget falls for in the original novel. I read the book before I saw the movie; I was 2,000 miles from home and terribly homesick for the ocean...loved them both!)

Comment by booklover on March 20, 2013 at 5:46pm Carl, I could not agree more about getting your healthcare through your employer! We don't get our car insurance through them! We've had the same healthcare provider ever since my husband started his job over 25 years ago, but we worry with each new contract. SO stressful!
Ruth, adorable spring kitten! I want another kitten, but I'm afraid my husband would flip-out! lol.
Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on March 20, 2013 at 12:45pm Sorry to hear about your stepmother, Ian. That’s a lot of life stress in a short time.
A pit bull like Siamese, I don’t think I could get along with Buddy, Joseph. Thanks for sharing the Buddy fell from tree story. It sounds as if he had no lasting harm.
LOL, great quote sk8eycat, and the rubics cube is a perfect touch to the classic prayer image. I did not get the Moondoggie pun. But I’m not that good at puns.
Steph, your Starwars LOLcats were a hoot.
I regret nothing cat was great too, booklover. Great way to start my day.
I am glad you enjoyed that Spud : )
I thought that was so cute.
