Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by The Flying Atheist on March 20, 2013 at 8:03pm Joan, [stepping back on my soapbox] I've spoken to people from countries who have universal health care and I don't need any further convincing that universal health care is the best system. When we (the U.S) were having our health care debate four years ago, I was extremely excited with the possibility of finally making major positive changes to our broken and wasteful health care system. We also had the added luxury of being able to study the various systems from other countries (U.K., Germany, Canada, Japan, Sweden, etc.) that were already in place and to see which aspects worked best. With that information, I was hoping the U.S. would develop a hybrid of the best of the best. Well......we all know how that turned out. Such a disappointment that we missed a golden opportunity. Who would of thought at the beginning that we'd be hearing cries of 'death panels,' 'rationed care' and 'socialism?'

Comment by Patricia on March 20, 2013 at 7:22pm Almost everything is covered here. Cosmetic surgery, unless warranted for health reasons, is not covered, but.....I can get cosmetic surgery if I choose to (which I don't), if it involves reconstruction of my right breast, or implant....any of that. As it was, I had 3 lb. breast reduction in 2000 because they were interfering with my upper body. Then after the mastectomy, I had another reduction in 2006 on my left breast which was another pound & a half. Reconstruction.....not a chance!!!! Damn thing already betrayed me once!!!

Comment by Joan Denoo on March 20, 2013 at 6:59pm TFA, please stay on your soapbox. Obviously we aren't getting adequate care, whether privately or through our employer. The evidence is all in and there is no doubt about it, our medical care system is broken. And no one knows that better than the wonderful doctors on my team.
